Our thoughts exactly. Did reinstall the plastic slides but someday want to change to metal. Our table is pretty stable because I did cut some off on front to back . Still makes into a bed , more stable and will completely turn around If needed .
Have played around in new trailers with the Lagun and really prefer the Springfield for our needs . It needs to make into a bed every night . Pat

I love these reoccurring threads. My conclusion from all the previous posts and threads is:

Springfield: favored by those who want a full size table and the easy ability to use it for the bed.

Lagun: favored by those who see the dinette area as an area to lounge and probably have a "U" shaped dinette.

Might be wrong but that's what it looks like to me. At least there's no wrong answer, folks get to choose what matches their life style.

Our table is smaller , cut 10 in off so it is very stable now and easier to get in . Centered on the Springfield when it was installed . Pat

🤔 just to be clear we have the Lagun and use a full size table. To convert to bed takes only a minute. But you’re absolutely right, 1 size doesn’t fit all.

Jim has the Dicor 4 Way slide as we do. It has lock latches on both axis(2 on the front to back and one side to side).

With the Lagun, does the table attach directly to the Lagun? As in no slider mechanism?

No built in slide, but because of the swivel & spin, you probably won't need one. You can also use the slide that came on the bottom of the Escape provided table.

My install is directly to table, really don't see need for slide of any type. Table rotates 360 degrees and you can pivot in either direction. For larger size individuals, maybe slide would be useful.

For as much money as it costs , I was disappointed, I expected more , but to be fair maybe I expected too much!
If I was to do it again I would probably choose the Lagun or the standard factory table .
There are many options on our Escape that in hindsight were not money well spent nor have they improved our camping experience .

What are some of the options you wouldn't get?

I think if I was going to build one, I would just go with the Lagun setup. But it looks like it would solve the shortcomings of the Springfield design (IMHO), namely I can't get the table out of my way.


I still like the table but it is a little unstable even when tightened down. Maybe I should give this some thought. It would be nice to keep it from moving.

I've just taken up the ukulele (covid pastime) so I'll have to see if I can play in my dinette with the Springfield.

I have put some painters' tape on the edge of the table at the places where the latches are on the Dicor...anyone have an easier way to locate them? I think I will eventually know where they are, but for now, the tape works.

Does anyone have a photo of what a Lagun looks like mounted in a standard booth rather than U-Shaped. We, as well, don't plan to get the u-shaped dinette (unless the lounging option gains some ground in our plans), and we have a large puppy (yellow lab), so the appeal of open space for her to lay around is appealing. How would a Lagun work on a standard dinette?

I have also done a lot of tinkering under the rear seats. I have the wrap-around dinette, Springfield and retained ETI’s plastic sliders. While I cannot remove the support, if I unlatch the pedestal, I can turn the table sideways and by removing one slide-stop screw, slide the table top off and lift it out of the way. I have not found that the pedestal itself impedes me in comfortably having access for any tinkering I want to do.

Even with heavy bracing, the Lagun is not quite as stable as the Springfield (although when I switched I went with a much heavier teak table) but is is solid enough to be comfortable.

For us, sturdiness is tantamount to everything else. That is why I removed the double pedestals in the first place. Since it’s installation, I have never lowered the table, only rotated it or slid it one way or the other. My spouse is a quilter and a crafter and whenever we go on a trip, her travel sewing machine comes along. Having the most stable surface possible is best for her. And when it rains and I have to eat inside, a jiggly, rocking table drives me nuts. The Lagun has its own good features, but the choice really depends on which features are most important for the user. Anyone trying to decide should think about the pros and cons mentioned in this thread and consider which ones best fit their perceived needs.
