Good afternoon. I’m trying to figure out if you get a non-removable power cord is there a external access hatch that the cord goes into? Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. I am wanted to know how difficult it is to take out the refrigerator to access the vent to run a weboost cable to the roof. I also was wondering can you access the cabinet on each side of the refrigerator. Thanks

Yes, there is a opening with flexible plastic fingers that allow you to remove the power cord for use and then return to the compartment.

You can access the vent via the rear refer cent cover, it gives you access all the way to the roof via the rear of the refer. No access on the rear side of the refer, but the forward side has access, depending on Escape model.

Hi Jeff1958, Yes. If you get the non-removable power cord, the external access hatch looks a lot like this https://www.amazon.com/Halotronics-5...2101459&sr=8-1.

When the cord is pushed all the way in, it sits loosely under the bench. So to keep the cord from getting tangled up with other stuff in the bench I placed a pop-up clothes hamper there to keep the cord in one place away from everything else. When using the cord, a thick piece of foam around the cord (in this hatch) is the trick to keep uninvited critters (including ants!) out. -Bea

Nice option Jim! But just a reminder that this is a 15 amp plug and is for low current appliances/uses (good for most things). If using higher current items such as the air conditioner, its best to use the 30 amp plug/cable into a 30 amp power outlet. -Bea

Most of our camping is in winter and fall, so 15 amps is all that is needed. But when it is hot, I use the original cord for the 30 amp hookups.

On our Casita we knew the non removable power cord hatch as the mouse entryway. It fit just loose enough that mice moved in.

Would have to be very svelte mice to gain access. Ants can be defeated by wrapping a rag around the cord, just inside the hatch.

We, similarly, use a plastic bag mashed around the cord. When we first picked up our Escape in Sumas 5 years ago, the bag was the only thing we found available on our first night in the trailer. We've been using it ever since.

We like that the cord feeds through the access door. Had it on our first one, as well. We take out only as much length as we need and the rest stays in the trailer. I use a little steel wool inside the access door and have not had any issues with insects or vermin.

I like that it comes straight down as opposed to sticking out as it appears the removable one does. We park in a very tight spot and were afraid that the side of the house would interfere with it. Every inch counts.

I've always sprayed my cord with pest deterrent near where it hits the ground...but when (if?) I get my Escape ordered, I will be choosing the removable cord

I installed a rubber grommet on the 30 amp cord that makes the opening tight....
