sounds good, we were not sure if we would change out the cover until we actually traveled with it, but soon realized I wanted a cutting board. You are so handy, I would go without the cover if I were you. $40.00 could be an extra electrical plug or two!

I'm leaning toward an oven in our 19, as well. I want to leave my generator at home, which means no microwave for me. The chocoholic that I married insists that one pan of brownies is worth the cost of the oven.

I have baked on just about everything you can bake on when camping. Some of my favorites are the Omnia oven and the Cobb. That being said, we debated about getting an oven in the Escape. With much encouragement from Donna D (who doesn't mind a cranberry orange scone with her morning coffee) we ordered the oven. Like all camp baking it's a little tricky to use but I love it and use it all the time (I put a pizza stone in the bottom). We deleted the cover from the build sheet and got the cutting board cover from Camping World. It has feet on the bottom that attach to the grill when traveling so it doesn't move. When I'm using the oven it sits nicely on the counter.

ours looks like Kathie's. Does take a bit of tweaking with the temps, but my brownies have turned out great!

Escape said the goofy top cannot be deleted from the stovetop/oven combo. Rats. Looks like the hinges for it can be unscrewed from the stove top, though. Or are they riveted on? I can't find a good picture.

Very interesting....It says "Amana" right on the front of our stove/oven combo and in the instruction manual it says for service, call Maytag

We purchased a piece of cutting board material with the dimensions of the stove top from a company that makes cutting boards to order. We then attached it to the existing folding stove top. It now folds up as one unit and stays upright behind the stove. Works very well and provides much needed counter space when the stove isn't in use. Here it is.

I just took my oven/stove top cover off, very easy. The hinge has a horizontal slot, so when the top is closed, you push in one side of the hinge until it is released from the pivot, and other end is now free also. No tools, no brainer.

Dave and Kathy;
I really like the cutting board that you have on your stove top. I tried Camping world but no luck. Could you give me a manufacturer or other info?
Thanks Al

We got our cutting board from The Cutting Board Company in New Jersey. The link is: www.cuttingboardcompany.com . It's a very hard plastic and is resistant to scratching from knives, etc. Comes in all sorts of colors and, as I mentioned, they cut to order. Very good to deal with.

Tash, I'm also getting the two burning stove, turned 90 degrees. I want all the counter space I can get. I wouldn't buy an over-sized stove top for that reason.

Does anyone know the outside dimension of the two burner stainless steel?

Smile Stove/oven on Escape

After much thinking..we have ordered our new 19 with a 3 burner stove and oven. We have added 2 drawers below the shortened wardrobe, and have deleted the Microwave. We often camp without power, so decided the oven would serve us better.

We are thinking the same. I'd love to see a picture of the knobs to see if I need to be concerned with keeping them child, err ... Newfoundland resistant.
