Strategic Partner Discussions at Rally

Were there any announcements or discussions about the strategic partner at the rally?

I gotta ask, what is this "strategic" parter?

I musta missed something with my minimal presence in the last 5 weeks.

Karl was introduced at the rally but nothing was said about Escape. I met him at the factory at pick up. He seems amiable enough, but he does not own an Escape, he rides motorcycles though. He does have some manufacturing background. When I suggested that he take one camping he did say he intends to do that really soon. Product use is a great learning tool.....

Don't know anything about Escapes strategic partner, although I do know that I have been married to my strategic partner for about 33 yrs.

Jim, there was an extensive forum discussion a while ago.

http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f7...ner-14401.html

I did have a couple of good discussions with Karl at the rally. Karl is a very amiable Irishman with some experience in leisure and in manufacturing. His role is very much to take care of the business side of ETI, including updating business practices and processes, freeing up Reace and Tammy both to allow them to do what they are best at and give them some spare time as well. I think he was quite blown away by the crowd as it were, recognizing that the Escape Brand is alive and well and to be taken care of.

I'm not sure what his taste in Whiskey is (as an irishman, I'm sure he has a taste in whiskey), but the laughed loudly at a couple of Irish jokes I told him.

I too had a couple of nice conversations with Karl. We talked a lot about manufacturing and business processes as that is my background as well. One thing in his experience stood out to me. He used to work at Paccar, the maker of Kenworth trucks. Kenworth simi-trucks are very similar to Escape Trailers in that every truck owner wants their truck to be very personal. He talked about how they engineered the options so they made sure they would fit correctly in the base design model, then also would fit into the production line. Basically mistake proofing by design. Reace has done this by his own intellect and creativity. Karl brings engineering design tools to the table.

I came away impressed and confident that this partnership will be very good for the company and that the essence of what makes and Escape an Escape is not threatened by the synergies of new skills at the table.

Didn’t they say at the rally that Karl was from Calgary?

Not that I recall. He previously lived in White Rock, a small town directly south of Vancouver, almost t the border, but moved out to Chilliwack.

Take this short article in Forbes and roll with it.

He may not have a money position. Escape is probably growing at a rate that is problematic and the owners require professional advice on how to move forward. Just a surmise...

Yes, Karl was hired by the new partner to insure things are operated properly. He is now the president of Escape Trailers LP.

As the linked earlier discussion explains, the "partner" is not a person, but a company... which does have an ownership position, and does bring planning expertise (and other abilities) to the operation.

A majority ownership position, at that.

Hi Alf
They were tearing out a few of the old hedges between the sites when we were there two years ago so I had a hedge that they might be putting in new hedges yet this year and they were. They are hedging their revenue plan by developing a lot of new sites with new hedges. To insure diversity and hedge themselves from a monoculture hedge planting they are using a new species of hedge plant material. The new ones are of the juniper variety not the old style arbor vitae. Regarding the new strategic plan, there were hunches by the bunches at breakfasts, dinners and lunches.
