Most of the crops in sumas are either raspberries or blueberries. Hops are also here but not a large industry. The only crop you need to flood your field for are cranberries and these are not grown here.

I just noticed the hops because of the trellises, now I see them in a lot of areas.

While we saw lots of evidence of flooding, we were able to cross the border at Sumas yesterday (Feb 3).

You know when you look at the area on the map, it is easy to see the unique geography and the multitude of streams and ditches running thru it. It is a very contained, flat area and it looks like it is easy for water to stack up as it attempts to drain into the Fraser. I can't wait to see the mighty Fraser.


I wonder if this kind of thing happens when run off gets going?
