Crossing borders with dogs.We bring the up to date papers on vaccination for our
fox terrier and have only been asked for papers the odd time.We keep them with our passports so not to forget. If we should show up without dog papers I am sure they would ask for them.Murphys Law and all that.

Proof of rabies within the last three years is all. I have never been asked for it though.

Immunization shots don't matter. I don't think we have seen Jasper's in many years now.

Open bags of dog food can be a problem, both ways.

With Jasper being raw fed, we cannot bring any of the bulk meats we buy for his consumption, as any meat needs to be packaged and labelled to show source.

I'm ALWAYS asked about rabies. Never about dog food, though. Or even meat. I think my dogs must look rabid.

So Jasper gets to enjoy fresh steak for every meal during vacations? Lucky dog!

He sometimes eats better than us. We do look for deals, then buy lots of whatever it is.

We took our 2 Yorkies with us in January - no issues even with Linda holding both in her lap coming back across the border. We had shot records and all that with us so I guess that's why they didn't ask to see them. One thing that did work out well for us was staying at the Best Western and getting the first orientation slot of the day. Best Western gave us a late check out and OK'd us leaving the dogs in the room while we went to orientation. That's sort of important because you may not want your Yorkie interacting with the "puppies" that guard ETI during the night and then hang around in the office in the morning. If they haven't had breakfast yet .........

We took ours with us last October from New York to Chilliwack. Had rabies paper work and shot record. Never was asked for them, either way. Going over the Canadian guard ask what our purpose was. When we said " going to Escape to pick up our camper" he handed our licenses back and said "have a nice day". Coming back same thing.Click image for larger version
