There Are Many Shades of Gray

Anybody out there choose dark gray for your graphics? If so could you please post some pictures. It would help me immensely as I need to give Tammy my final decision on color by Tuesday morning.
Thanks!

Hope this helps, I think the gray goes good with the gray reflective glass windows.

Are you trying to match something? Shade of gray are from 5% to 99% of black (yeah, I deal with graphics). IF you are trying to match a tug, go down to your local [brand] dealer and tell them you own {year/mode} tug.... VINs help and they can give you the paint code. Sign shops match that code to the vinyl and that's what Tammy needs... if you're matching.

My tug is 2000 Ford F-150 Silver Frost ??

YMMV

Donna, I'm not trying to match anything yet. My current tv is white and I expect to replace it in 2-3 years. Just trying to prepare for the future as I will most likely buy a white or silver, medium or dark gray vehicle at that time.

We chose the dark gray and are very happy with it. I don't think this colour ever goes out of style.

Mine is slate gray on the build sheet, it appears to be lighter than the dark gray above.

We used Battleship Grey to match our 2010 Nissan Xttera. Towed it once.
Too bad I just traded it for a silver one.....

While you probably should check with Tammy about whose vinyl material they are currently using, when I ordered my trailer they were using Avery Graphics A6 Opaque material. Here is Avery's color chart.

I talked with Avery & they sent me 2" X 4" samples of the reds so I could choose the color that was closest to my RAV4...

We chose Battleship Grey as it is a perfect complement to flat black

I think it's going to be really difficult to compare shades of gray in photos, since - as Glenn demonstrated - the camera exposure and image processing control the darkness. In an ideal world, everyone would include a sample of a standard shade in their photo for reference, and photography stores even sell 18% gray cards for essentially this purpose (calibration)... but I'm not expecting anyone to run out and get one!

And then there is the issue of the computer monitor you are viewing, the room lights, and how much you have the monitor brightness turned up. Never mind that the monitor likely wasn't calibrated for color work anyway.
I just gave Tammy the Toyota description of the RAV color I had chosen, "Black Forest" green, and they matched it ( near as I can tell ).

I really appreciate everyone's help. I'm not sure I've seen the dark gray in a photo yet but, using Jon's suggestion, I have sent an e-mail off to Avery requesting samples.

I just had a look at the Avery chart on my MacBook. How it appears depends on the angle of the screen. So, hopefully, they will send you a hard copy sample.
Failing that, a paint shop will have a Pantone color chart and chips.

There is no way you are going to be able to match the color chart on a computer screen with the actual graphics, even on a computer that has been calibrated - if an exact color match is critical, ask for samples, or spend the $7.50 for their Vinyl Color Chart shown on the bottom of the page..

Of course after selecting the "right" graphics color, you will have to choose your next tow vehicle by color!

And, don't park it in the forest where it will tint green, or in a sunset where it will appear orange...
