That's funny, and Blue does the same I sleep on the single dinette and we have the power play during the night for who has the most comfortable sleeping position. She usually wins and snuggles to the back of my legs.

Do any of you who RV with dogs cover the linoleum floor with a carpet runner or such to guard against dog toe nails let alone the dirt and fur?

In my current camper I use a carpet runner. It helps with the dog toe nails on the linoleum and I can at least shake it out for the dirt/fur. I also bought some cheap fleece blankets at the thrift store to throw over the seat & bed for dirty paws (dog paws, not mine). Seems my dog isn't that consistent with wiping his paws before hitting the couch/bed.

More important is to cover those holes in the step, Hershey tore a nail out one time. I use stair tread stick ons. In the winter I lay down a carpet runner since they sleep on the floor, otherwise the rest of the time it is bare or those CW mats.

Yes, I read about the steps and already have a stair cover waiting for when my Escape is delivered in March

Good reminder to go measure mine before I put it in storage. I put a towel on it on our first camping trip as the dogs refused to put their feet on the step.

Seriously? Isn't the canoe floating in an effectively endless supply of water?

Molly doesn't much care for the step, either. I have to cover it with a towel or she just jumps straight in. We carry a doggie bed in the back of the Tacoma, anyway. It moves to the trailer at night.

While a 17A was what we intended, we upgraded to a 19 to allow room for Molly and her Golden Retriever brother. The floor still gets a bit tight when she does her "bearskin rug" imitation.

Are you blaming her or thanking her for that?

Boy do i love dogs, the whole idea about the camper was for our golden.Could not leave her behind if we went away. But she will be 10 next month and we got some awful dreaded news the other day. She is a very sick pup, the doc is talking days, weeks, not months or years. I just break down and cry several times a day over the last couple of days. I will give her as much time as i can, given that she can hardly walk, i use a makeshift sling to assist her rear legs so she can pee and #2. Funny i use to love to just watch her run and turn on a dime. How she use to run in the woods and come out with, in her view, the best dam stick you ever did see, so proud of what she found. I am gonna miss her. Carl

So sorry to hear that Carl. It is tough to lose a pet, and even tougher to know they must go. As others do, I only know too well that in time the sadness turns into fond memories.

My second last dog was a Golden, who we lost at not even 11 due to some sort of stomach ailment, and our last dog (a flat coat retriever/border collie cross) who at 11 outran 90% of the dogs out there, then cancer hit....... Now I am getting sad.

Jasper at 8 1/2 is in exceptionally good health, here's to hoping he stays that way for that much longer yet.

So sorry, It is most difficult to face that diagnosis with our 4 legged companions. It sounds like you will cherish every day you have with her. My heart goes out to you[emoji22]

A crappy cell phone photo of Jasper from last weekend. Many of you have met him over the years, he has never missed a rally yet.

I only wish we had taken Charly on that last car ride sooner than we did. It's not fair to the dog to hold on. A year later, we still expect her welcome at the door.

We have used with total success a product called Adaptil. They have collars and a spray that can be used in conjunction with each other...if need be.

We have also used pheromone diffusers for cats!

Your little friend will do exactly what happens when you leave the house....either sleep on the couch or the bed! Sneak up and peek through the window......fast asleep!
