Yeah it was in the shadow of the trailer--so not enough sun...Maybe now I am changing the front garden I should have a corner for rhubarb??(or my aunt can continue to grow it for me!!!)

Well this is an inspiring thread .....need to do some landscaping at our new (old ) place ....has way more back garden than we actually wanted .....think we'll plant some rhubarb .....

... and once established, a rhubarb plant root can be split every few years to spread the goodness around. My mother propagated one plant through several of our homes over the years.

Mine was here when we moved in in 1982 and has been moved and split several times. Gets little or no attention.
I think "weed" is an accurate description.

I have one word for you rhubarb people. Piestengel. After you google that and read a few threads, you'll understand why the Amana Colonies, 15 miles from our home, is a regular stop for libations. Goes down easy and convinces you that you have superhuman strength for a couple of hours.

One of our neighbors was out earlier this week with the snowblower clearing the area for his snap peas, has to get them in in 3 weeks.

I have a recipe for a rhubarb meringue pie from my mom that is to die for.
And yes, strawberry rhubarb is a great combination.
One of my comfort foods, is plain old stewed rhubarb, with nothing but a bit of sugar. Oh yeah, and a couple fresh biscuits, and a scoop of ice cream in it too.
