Wonder what our teenagers are calling us these days??

To be fair this was not originally started as a new thread. It was a reply in a different thread, but the subject took over so one of the moderators split it off.

old geezer....
Geezer's rule...
An old geezer became very bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic. He put a sign up outside that said: "Dr.Geezer's clinic. Get your treatment for $500, if not cured, get back $1,000."
Doctor "Young," who was positive that this old geezer didn't know beans about medicine, thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went to Dr.Geezer's clinic.

Dr. Young: "Dr.Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me ??"
Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young's mouth."
Dr. Young: Aaagh !! -- "This is Gasoline!"
Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your taste back. That will be $500."

Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple of days figuring to recover his money.
Dr. Young: "I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything."
Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine
from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient's mouth."
Dr. Young: "Oh, no you don't, -- that is Gasoline.
Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your memory back. That will be $500."

Dr. Young (after having lost $1000) leaves angrily and comes back after several more days.
Dr.Young: "My eyesight has become weak --- I can hardly see anything!!!!
Dr. Geezer: "Well, I don't have any medicine for that so, "Here's your $1000 back." (giving him a $10 bill)
Dr. Young: "But this is only $10!
Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You got your vision back! That will be $500."

Moral of story -- Just because you're "Young" doesn't mean that you can outsmart an "old Geezer"*
Remember: Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to tick us off.
Dr. Geezer's Clinic - ENJOY YOUR DAY !!

I sent that on to my father, who will thoroughly enjoy it. I asked him once what he considered an "old fart" after calling him that one day and he said he wasn't one. He said anyone older than him. Well, a few years down the road he started dating a gal older than him, so when I teased him about dating an old fart, he said she didn't count.

You are right, in fact nobody hits the extreme either way. My example taken to the far end of the spectrum was unwarranted.

They say to live a long life, you should laugh every day. Jim's Dr. Geezer story did the trick. That is a good one. Loren

At this point I hope everyone understands what term "OB" stands for, what that term means, and that is a term of endearment rather than anything offensive. In case anyone wonders, Glenn's own use of his name is why I sometimes refer to him as "Baglo", which could be misinterpreted as disrespectful if the context were not understood.

What some members could learn from this discussion might include:
  • If you have an issue with a specific member - particularly if you don't understand some thing that member has posted - it would be more productive to address the issue in a private message than as a public accusation.
  • If something in the title of a thread doesn't make sense, and you haven't read the thread from the beginning, it would make sense to go back and do that. This also avoids jumping into a discussion without content and so making a comment that makes no sense or has already been made. (For me, this meant reading seventy posts today before posting this.)
  • The forum software has no provision for distinguishing between "member" and "moderator" modes, so it is left to the member reading any post by a moderator to determine in what role that person is acting.
  • Conversation with Baglo is always interesting.

I am distressed. As a big fan of Shakespeare's theatrical plays, the misquoting of Hamlet in this thread's title offends my sensibilities.....

Holy Cow! Don't log in and read the forum for a day, and look what happens. A 76 post marathon.

Anyway, Glenn, I've always cringed a bit whenever I've read your references to your wife, so I was glad when you indicated that she uses the same (or similar) references at times. Whew! Thanks.
Keep on keepin' on. We appreciate the job you and the other moderators do.

After much thought I'm just not going to share references to my wife any more . It will be so much more easy on everybody.
This discussion has been better than an obituary, since I was here to read it.
