Top (4) Options for Escape 19'
Hello Escape Owners - We recently ordered a 19' Escape and our now in the process of identifying the options. To keep it simple (as I can sort the data), what were *your* 4 options that you could not do without? Any brief descriptions or explanations would be appreciated. Thanks! B3

Final four
Although we bought our Escape as previously owned, I feel that the options we use and enjoy the most are:
1. Storage box
2. Air Conditioning
3. Solar panel and dual 6 volt batteries
4. EMS. Surge protector
It came with the first two and we had the second two installed at ETI
Number 5, cheap by comparison, Toilet shut off valve

My Top Three....
We just took possession of our 2nd Gen 19ft. While we have not had a lot of time to evaluate it the three things that I believe are mandatory options
1. Front Storage Box
2. Solar Panel
3. Dual 6 Volt Batteries.
The other options like the additional drawer under the wardrobe and shelves in the wardrobe I think are also options I would not go without.
But the great thing is being able to customize your trailer.
Have fun dreaming.

Our 19 is on order and our build sheet is based on a year of extensive use of our 17. We have more than four must have options but I'll throw out a few, in no particular order:
1. Solar and dual 6V
2. Storage box
3. Lots of extra outlets, mostly 12V and USB, but 120 also.
4. Surge protector
5. Dual pane windows, extra insulation, and spray foam underneath
6. High lift axle
7. Shelves in wardrobe
Our list of extras on our pending trailer is much much longer, but these are some of the most important to us based on current usage.
Cheers,
Scott

Number one option for me regardless of model is thermal windows and extra insulation.
Then being able to choose some of your own finishes like flooring, laminate and fabric.
Dual 6V batteries, and solar if you will mostly be off the grid.
And lastly the Beer Wench (or for Donna a Cabana Boy). Unfortunately this option has not been released yet.

I never had it on my 19, nor did I feel I needed it either .

My Director served as my beer wench many times over the years. She was a very good sport and I only had to bring her lilacs and apple blossoms in the spring and peeps candy chicks at Easter. She was my boss for several years and we drank so much beer together after work that the people in the beer joint thought she was my wife. Then Rita would show up to take me drunk I'm home again. I am a lucky man.

Now I might be an odd ball, but what our best decisions were is raising the benches in the dinette and moving the t.p. roll holder. (besides the ones mentioned already by others)

2) Dual Pane Windows with added insulation (comfort)
3) Solar with Dual 6v batteries (camping off the grid)
4) Storage Box (optimal use of space)

Very true, Marry. But to me that is one of the top redeeming qualities one could have.

Thermal windows/insulation, solar, dual 6v batteries, and custom flooring, Formica, and fabric were our top options.

2 solar panels -> many more available places to go. I’d also get the dual batteries with this.
storage box -> I like how my outside stuff is organized and ready to go with minimal hassle without packing the vehicle.
extra insulation & thermal windows -> hopefully eliminates most condensation issues
4 extra 12 volt outlets -> I fulfil all my power needs through 12 volt. No inverter required.
Interestingly, the solar and storage box were not on my initial cut. My initial thought was that solar didn’t collect enough power to make it worthwhile. I later realized that my power requirements would be low enough that the solar panels could provide all my electrical needs. I got dual solar panels mostly to be able to do this in the shaded state campground you find in the PNW.

1) We passed on the solar at this stage. You should consider how much boondocking/dry camping you are doing. We thought that probably we won't be doing more than 6/7 days and the dual 6V batteries (which we did get) would be good enough. We have found at this stage that this has been the case. If you expect to be doing mainly hook-ups, with only a few days of dry camping, save the $ on the solar, but you could consider making it solar ready.
2) We love BBQing and have a portable, which plugs into our existing propane using the "quick connect" feature. This is great and saves taking an extra propane tank on the road.
3) The thermal windows are fabulous and allow you to keep the windows open in the rain.
4) Think about where you live and where you will be intending to camp and whether you will need the AC. In the Pacific North West you can probably do without it. If its hot during the day, the Maxx fan is great and often the temperatures can fall quickly at night. Don't forget you can't use the AC when you are dry camping.
