Trailer cover

Has anyone purchased the trailer cover recently from Escape? If so is it custom made or generic

We did back in May when we picked up our 21NE.
I'm 87% sure I asked and was told it's generic.

We prefer the trailer cover from Calmark in California. We had one for our Casita and then ordered one for our Escape when we upgraded trailers two years ago. We considered the one offered by Escape but since it wasn’t completely custom to our unit, we decided against it. Calmark was able to take the measurements of our rear camera antenna and our solar panel into consideration.

For those of you in Canada like us, the self-import process was very easy as we live near an international airport. I don’t know if the process has changed now due to COVID.

I know that those who live where it is windy may need a custom fit cover to prevent chaffing the gelcoat, but if you don't have to contend with wind you can save a heap of money with a cheaper, looser fitting cover. We picked ours up for $200 Canadian and it has lasted 5 years. We are just now looking to replace it because it is getting that green growth on it. The Calmark cover wasn't necessary for us. It had an access panel and covered our 21's propane tanks and back bumper. You can see photos on an older thread.

Calmark is struggling staying afloat with Covid 19, in May they increased the price of their covers by $200 dollars. Love the one I had for my casita but the price for a 19 foot trailer priced me out.

Yikes! That’s a hefty increase. We haven’t kept up with their pricing, so buyer beware in 2020 on their price. Good thing we bought ours already, same sentiment as Pat.

Seems like they don't want to stay in business with that kind of pricing. They need more customers, not fewer. Should have decreased the price by 10 bucks or percent off for the first X number of buyers.

Might be other reasons it went up, material costs increase, heavy demand, or even a lack of materials.

Not to mention "economies of scale".

Fewer customers may mean less purchasing power for materials or disruptions in the supply chain. Every company that struggles with cash flow is being severely challenged right now.

This may be a simple act of desperation.

Very sad to hear . We wish them the best . They are the best cover out there . No one can compare . When we had our cover made for our Escape , they came to our home to measure , using new equipment so they would have a pattern for our 19 . When cover was completed they delivered and installed to check that cover was manufactured correctly . They had a few adjustments to make so returned to make those adjustments . Then cover was ready and we went and picked up . Hoping they can hang in there ! Pat
