🤔Pretty sure a disc grinder would make short work of it. But just looking at the size of it and 15 lbs weight I really can’t see myself dragging that thing around unless I where planning on leaving my trailer in a Chicago parking lot where it probably wouldn’t do me much good anyway. After all what good is a burned out shell with a fancy lock on its wheel?
Honestly if I have to worry about multi layers of security and carrying around enough hardware as jeopardize my payload capacity, I’m probably camping in the wrong neighborhood.😎

One other item to cosider, you lose your keys to your lock you may be stranded.

A mayoral election campaign was underway in Albuquerque when I was there a couple of years ago. One big issue was the city's high rate of vehicle theft. Also on the local news were stories of theft from vehicles parked at the city's hotels. Fortunately I was camped at a military base campground, but I was alert when moving about the city.

I learned something when talking to the Fort Knox Lock Company. They recommend a aluminum puck lock over the steel type. The reason is the steel can be cut through with a cutting wheel. The aluminum lock is not easily defeated by a cutting wheel because the aluminum particles clog the cutting wheel making it ineffective. They also put a steel collar around the lock so it can’t be knocked off with a hammer.

Think their lock is an excellent product and I know what they are talking about when it comes to cutting aluminum. This is the first I've heard of an aluminum puck lock. But if I had a disc grinder pretty sure I could cut off even the Fort Knox though there's a lot of metal there.

Not only do they sell aluminum puck locks they also sell them cheaper than the steel locks.

I use the ProvenLocks hitch lock on my Escape 21.
Plus, I run an ABUS security chain through the two wheels on one side or the other.

So, a thief would have to cut the chain, unthread it, cut off the proven lock (or simply bypass the ball and tow without the ball.

But another tip I saw recently (I believe is a forum member) is to install a power cut off switch to the tongue jack. The hidden switch prevents the electric tongue jack from operating. Clever. Again, able to defeat with the proper size socket wrench.

But added all together, these measures will take time to defeat all, create noise and sparks drawing attention.

And while I do have insurance, all the modifications I have made since purchase cost thousands of dollars and lots of time which will never by covered.

For that matter, the fancy hitch locks do little as well. Talking to a policeman friend, he said most of the time the crooks don't even bother with the hitch lock - they just throw a chain around the tongue, connect it to the getaway vehicle, and off they go.

Insurance and a loaded shotgun works the best.

If you use these you need to lock 2 wheels and if you have a double axel, both wheels on one side. You would also need locking lug nuts. Or you could get the kind that cover the lug nuts, but still lock both wheels on one side of the trailer.
