Interesting, I've used peanut butter to get gum out of carpet. The peanut butter would dissolve the gun, then carpet cleaning would get out the peanut butter. I would never have thought of trying it on sap.

If peanut butter works, then peanut oil would presumably work better, without the extra peanut bulk (or sugar). My guess is that ground peanuts are not a useful abrasive, but who knows?

If peanut oil works, then any other vegetable oil seems like an easy-to-try and more readily available option. We have canola and olive oils in the cupboard, and if going for oil I would try those.
