TX Microbreweries with tasty beers

I know. I was happy when he first opened the brewery and used to drink their Pale Bock. It was disappointing when he sold out to Miller who ultimately ran it into the ground. It was later sold to Michigan Brewing Co but they never really seemed to recover to me.

My current favorite TX microbreweries besides (512) are: Real Ale (Blanco), Live Oak (Austin), St. Arnolds (Houston), Independence (Austin), & Yellow Rose (San Antonio). I don't think any of them distribute outside TX though.

Last fall we got to sample some wonderful microbrew beers from Montana that we can't get in TX which were yummy. I'd love to one day sample some of the fine Canadian microbrews that Jim says are out there... maybe at an Escape rally.

One of my favourite Canadian brewers is Unibroue in Quebec. LINK
The brewmaster there is from Belgium. I have tried lots of Belgium beers and pretty much liked them all. My favourite Unibroue beer is Trois Pistoles. CLICK
One has to be careful though, much of there beer is 8-9% alcohol.

Re: TX Microbrewies with tasty beers

I'm gonna go to some of my favorite beer stores in Austin to see if I can find any Unibroues to try. Per their website, it looks like several of them supposedly carry it.

Speaking of Belgian beers, Shay recently treated me to a bottle of DeuS (brewed by Bosteels) beer with some sushi for my birthday dinner. It tasted like a cross between beer & champagne which was too sweet & bubbly for my general tastes but was ok with the fish. It comes in a .75cl bottle and is a whopping 11.5% alchohol.
