Barry,

Just looked at your Zenfolio web site. I especially like your black and white's, some of your photos are superb.

We have the U shaped dinette in our 19 and enjoy it very much. We also raised the floor 4 inches. It makes the dining area a special place. The space between the back seat and the table is snug but I plan to add a front to back slider to remedy that. When it is just the two of us camping though, the dining area becomes a lounging area and you can stretch out and change from a sitting position. I say go for it.

I think it was your post a month or so ago that made us change our mind about the u shaped dinette. I seem to have used your input a lot with our build. Hmmmm

I don't regret the u-shaped dinette Larry. It's just that the lounge area isn't quite as large as it would be in a 21 or a 5er, and the u-shape lends itself to a lounge. I would say you'll be quite happy with it, and happier still if you replace the two poles with a single pneumatic pedestal as I and several others have.

Just finished our build sheet for a 17, and got the ushaped dinette without the table mounted. We figure we can mount the table later but wanted to try it out as a lounge first.

That's what I did with Ten Forward. Find out if the lounge works, if it doesn't change it! I like my u-shape decision. I expect your decision will work for you.

Thanks for all of the great feedback. We've decided that we are definitely going with the U shaped dinette; we are convinced it will work best for us. And will talk with the folks at ETI about the single pedestal. Would I have to supply the pedestal to them or is that something they can get. And about how much extra was it for them to do that change? The single pedestal that is, not the dinette

Aw, a wise choice but then I'm sorta biased. You supply the pedestal and as for any installation charge call them.

You have to wonder when/if ETI will start offering a pedestal for the table as an option? There have been a lot of owners that have installed this. When we first put our order in for our 19' in May of 2013, the Anderson hitch was just coming into the picture. Within a few months, ETI decided to buy a few and try installing them. Now it is a very popular option. So, it might be worth asking if they would supply the pedestal as well as install it.

I don't know, Kevin. I think that's a non-starter. Main reason is who would be their supplier, and how much would it cost for them to have it in inventory? I and several others got ours from Overton's, and even at a good discount, it was over $270. I doubt Escape could find a supplier to ship to Canada for anywhere near that. MUCH easier IMHO to just have Escape omit the poles and bring the pedestal with you when you pick up. They'll be happy to install it.

Can someone point me to a specific model of Springfield or other pedastal as discussed in this thread? Or photos? I am quite interested in having the U lounge in a 21, don't want table supports ever-present on the floor, but would like the option of a table, and must be able to convert the dinette to a bed. Help, please!

Here's a thread to read which I found by entering "Springfield pedestal table" into the Google search above:

There are many threads discussing it. Here's the one I did for mine:

See post #11 for ordering details.

EDIT: Thanks Karen, you beat me to it.

My sincere condolences. It is so hard to lose a creature that is so dear to you. It leaves such a huge empty place that is never quite filled. I'm sorry for your loss.
