Hello Farther

My conclusion a good while back, was that while the "tiny home" concept is charming
and a wonderful DIY approach; at my age, why go to all that work,
when there are all sorts of ready-made "tiny homes" already available.
They are known as travel trailers.
:: That doesn't of course take into consideration zoning issues and such,
but it also offers the possibility that if a person wants to become fixed
in their locale, but if they felt a bit cramped by their current travel trailer,
they could always move up to a larger trailer.
:: The 25 foot Bigfoots come to mind, knowing of course,
that they are quite heavy.
:: I also think a high-quality fiberglass trailer is much better
than a mobile home, or perhaps even one of the Park-model homes.

We also suffered from two footitis
Tent trailer up to 36 foot 5th wheel over the years
As we were getting close to being children free
We down sized 19 ft escape
We wanted small, but a perment bed and a table
Much more fun unit for us.
I Don't regret the other units, growth and knowledge thru the years
For us this works, it is now 10 years old
No issues

Hi Herb,
I have had a 17B for about 2 years now and I think it is wonderful for one small woman but I don't think it would be very comfortable for two people or even for a larger person. I bought it from a couple who used it for short camping trips but they were sizing up to the 5.0 for retirement.
That is the sum total of what I know on the subject.

Hey Barbara- thanks for your input, which is very candid for most couples(IMO)wanting to spend more than a week or so at a time in a 17B. That was our experience pretty quickly after buying and although we really enjoyed it the reality was for us it wasn't going to work long term. Choose carefully and don't put your current tow vehicle ahead of your real needs.

I think it comes down to your camping style and what's important to you. Do you spend most of your time outside or prefer to stay inside when not exploring? Do you want a bathroom? Do you cook inside or outside?
We are on our third non tent lets call it and each time we traded up in size and I think the 21' Escape we currently have is perfect for our camping needs even when we do start taking longer trips. When its just me I have so much space I wonder what I'm suppose to do with it all
I think you also have to consider storage when your not using it and also what you are comfortable towing.
I will tell you now finding a used Escape in the SE will not be easy, I would suggest posting an add on the forum that you are looking for........ whatever that is once you decide. That's how we found ours, it found us.
