What are the bets? Is it the Bruins in 6, or 7?

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

I must admit I'm a casual fan, just watch the playoffs (pretty much any major sport).. But this series has been pretty interesting. The first game was amazing..so evenly matched.. then since that hit on Horton.. the series just switched to crazy board work for the Bruins.. The Canucks have lost the edge to the puck..they were so fast prior..could it be the hits are catching up to them and taking it's cumulative toll..or is it just that damn home ice thing.. who knows, but tonight's game will be hard hitting and probably more penalties as the pressure is mounting.

So back to betting question.. not on a team as "tomorrow is promise to no man".. I'm betting for Zamboni to clean up the ice and maybe a tooth or two.

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

The Canucks have a good team, that played great all year. They really haven't upped their play that much into the playoffs, and they really are going to have to for game 7. I am looking forward to an exciting game tomorrow night.

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

Yep.. the game will be tight with some very hard hits.. The question is who's going to be the goalie for the Canucks..

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

No doubt it will be Luongo. He has played great at home, just not so good in Boston. Or Chicago either.

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

I feel sorry for the Vancouver journalists who have to cover that football game tonight, Anna Marie. I reckon the only people who listen to AM 1410 tonight will have broken radios.

'Course, I feel sorry for any hockey fan in this town who has to miss the game. I noticed a hardware store in Cloverdale that closes early on game day.

Not the ending we would have preferred...but a good season non the less..

Whats happening downtown now is absolutely sickening--those are NOT hockey fans doing that--Some poeple know how to wreck a good thing.. I had thought some might have grown up..

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

I see a lot of Canuck jerseys. I don't think these rioters are Boston fans. Maybe the city should bill the Canucks for the policing and damage. It's not like the Canucks didn't make money.

I know they did make money, but there is not excuse for poor sportsmanship. So we lost, it wasn't a close game.

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

That stuff happens here if they win! I guess we haven't won in a long time, so we're safe.. Although when the Giants won the world series thing we're pretty calm and normal..I guess if it's over 50years to win a title there's a "calm clause'..

I think of our 20 season tickets, only 2 got used. I imagine McMahon Stadium was rather empty last night.

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

I wondered if anyone in Vancouver burned their Escape Trailers due to the loss of the hockey game? Hockey must be a real important game in Canada.

Re: Vancouver Canucks Hockey

Hockey had little to do with it, although I heard one person suggest that the violence in the game of hockey may have had some impact.
The official story is that a small group of anarchists came equipped with tools to break windows and bottles of flammable liquid to set the fires. The fires did seem to start rather easily and quickly at the end of the game. However, then there were the thousands of well-lubricated fans who encouraged the hooligans or joined in and many thousands more who stayed to watch and shoot pictures and video with their phones and cameras.

Thousands of photos and video have been posted on Facebook and the like. Face-recognition software is available to enable the police to 'tag' and identify many of the idiots who participated.

If you go to: http://www.npr.org/blogs/pictureshow...ot?sc=fb&cc=fp
you will see probably the iconic photo from the riot. Some are suggesting the picture was a set-up, but I know the photographer, Richard Lam and I have covered my share of riots, and believe me, you're only concerned with your own safety and with getting the picture.

Best comment on the picture was "at least somebody from Vancouver can score on the road".
