we were interested in the 23 but $40,000, cough cough.
But being $40,000 US, I know it has an aluminum frame.
We're going to go with a 5.0, going to go with the power awning, Coleman air conditioner, outside shower, prep to the roof for solar, but not much else.
But we would really like to get a 12-volt compressor fridge and not have the vent on the roof, or the side.

Bruce,
The listed base price is very misleading as to what an Escape equipped with a few options cost. I built my May of 2019 delivered, Escape 21 using current pricing and I was just under 40K plus cost of delivery or pickup.

If I was to purchase a new 2021 Escape 21 today , equipped exactly the same as my 2018 Escape 21 C , the price would be beyond my reach .
$50 K + or - is more than I would be willing to spend on a luxury item that I use only a few days per year and IMHO a lot of the added cost options should be standard equipment at that price point .

aluminum frame?
In 92 I built a mult-motorcycle, auto, single axle trailer with an aluminum platform over steel axle and tonque. A friend in Utah where we lived had a fleet of large trucks and trailers explained to me how salt on the roads was really bad for the aluminum. I solved that problem, we moved to AZ and do not go where there is salt on the roads.

Just FYI during the September 29 pre-recorded livestream it was revealed explicitly that the 23 will indeed have an aluminum frame. Karl spoke of its engineering and fabrication being outsourced to 'experts in the field' (I paraphrase), etc.

Is that price officially listed anywhere? My understanding is, that was just a ballpark estimate, and plus we don't know which options will be standard vs optional yet...

We just ordered the 5.0 and with those options it will push that $40000 US. I suspect the 23 would top out at around $45000 US. Karl has kinda hinted it will have more standard in video I saw. I just don’t see that much upside to the 23 unless they come up with nice bunk bed setup for families.

If Escape can not get the plumbing correct, why venture off with a new style frame. Stick with the basics............

I suppose I can understand the pricing. When demand is through the roof and they can only build so many units, it’s good business to charge what the market will bear (more than previous pricing). That said, it is making my prospects look dimmer for getting an affordable 17’ someday. That’s life, I guess.

The upside, at least to me and my wife and 2 big dogs, is quite a bit more trailer...it's over 2 feet longer and 7" wider than both the 5.0 and the 21. Even without knowing the final floorplan, it's safe to say there will be more living space and more storage...

Yet, they didn't raise their pricing in USD for 2021 for any of their existing trailers.

You can always buy something else, but if you want quality.
Have you ever been at a campground and seen a slide on the ground?

Escape better figure out quick what is going on with the gray tank leaks, fix affected trailers and get a remedy for current production. These orders for new trailers Escape is seeing is going to be a flash in the pan if they don’t attend to the basics like Reace and Tammy did. The gray tank piping issue likely goes way beyond the number we are hearing about since only a fraction of owners are on the forum. This is the time for the “new” Escape to shine or they will start to erode a reputation built over many years.

Gray tanks leaking? Is this in the newer trailers?
I think the floorplan for the 23 is set with a choice between the walk around bed running front to back or twin beds also running front to back. That was the end of my interest in upgrading -- But I'm also confused about the aluminum frame. That means a totally different trailer doesn't it?

Well, it does likely mean a substantially 'different trailer' below the floor. We already know the trailer is 'different' above the floor in things like door location (behind the axle), and bed and bath configurations.
Does any one of those make it "totally" different, or is the the aggregate?
Maybe it is a "totally different trailer" ..... methinks that depends on your perspective.
Not sure that kind of 'label' makes any difference myself .... seems every ETI trailer has to be judged on its own merits - they're all very ("totally"?) different in my eye.
There's no doubt IMO that a new and significant specific technology application like the Al frame does introduce some degree of 'teething problems risk'; as always with anything new, early adopters will be the proving-ground for whether or not that risk is real and its degree of significance. Noting that's nothing to do with the basic technology (Al frames are not new in the industry) but everything to do with the specific application.

I think the aluminum frame is a dumb design decision. I see NO advantage either mechanically or in marketing other than it's lighter. Who really cares? I don't, and I'm an old mechanical engineer. Seems like shooting yourself in the foot to me.
