Weather observations

Well we got around 9" snow yesterday and today the high was 15 degrees above with a wind chill of -10(F). I just made my way out to BlackJack, it was 42 inside and it is currently 9 degrees outside. The minimum last night inside BlackJack was 35 degrees according to my min/max thermometer. I have a 500 watt oil type radiator heater on low setting, about 4 amps of draw about 50% time.

By the way, an observation for those thinking about getting the stainless steel exhaust hood, magnets will not stick to them, but will stick to the black/white models.

What's up with this weather? It was minus 18 last night with the wind chill of minus 30! Spent the morning melting the ice from the condensation off the windows of the house.

Jon V. is basking in the AZ sun missing it all!

Ideas of becoming a snowbird may be a reality!

Hey, it only got up to 73°F today. I did drive down to Quartzite to see the Big Tent show. Interesting, but once is enough. I did get a chance to walk through a couple of new Olivers.

Sounds like they use a good quality stainless steel in the hood. Lower grades of stainless steel will support a magnet, a better grade will not.

I stuck a couple of photos on today's Journal. They are a nice looking trailer, but, like the egg, the white fiberglass interior is too cold for me. I know there are many that appreciate the clean (and easy to clean) lines, but boy is there a lot of "white". Overall, I'll stick with the Escapes!

Oliver has done a lot of nice things with their build. But I agree with Jon. The idea of sleeping inside a "refrigerator" doesn't appeal to me. It's the lack of coziness that I find off-putting. YMMV

This year we are dry in the Pacific Northwest. This is not normal for us.

This is the coldest year we can remember in our 37 years here on the gulf coast; numerous nights below freezing and no end in sight. Some years we never even see freezing. Our "normal" high for this week is 61, but we've only seen that once or twice in the last few weeks. This isn't what we came to Florida for!

Hi: All...Chill is off now...heading out for a walk around the Ft. Myers Beach Golf Club. Not on the course of course, but on the sidewalk. Looking at a high temp in the upper 60's maybe 70* today. The only amount of white down here is the sand!!! Alf

Winter skipped us this year. Though we are seeing 30's overnight, we are enjoying unseasonably warm and dry days. Have still been camping. Went to Death Valley 2 weeks ago and tent camped off my Motorcycle.

But we are now in emergency drought conditions, please send rain.

This weather is crazy! They are saying its the coldest in 30 years here in Tennessee.

Thanks for the pictures Alf. Helps remember what warm looks like.

Snow on the ground since Tuesday and 50% chance of more tomorrow.

Whats wrong with this picture?

Hey it's not so bad up here in Edmonton though. Snow is melting like crazy. Can almost see my Escape parked beside the house. A few more weeks of this and I may be able to start thinking about using it again.

Thanks Alf, Sacramento has had a record breaking 47 day continuous winter day period with NO measurable rainfall. This tops a mark set in 1884. Every little bit counts.
We need the snow and rain that others are getting. I'm sure we'd take water and snow from any willing donors.
I have a daughter that lives in Eugene, Oregon and they too are suffering.

While at the gym this morning someone said "it's snowing outside!" People ran out to see it and sure enough, there it was. Well, it was more like sleet, but close enough for Florida; the first snow we've seen here since 1994. My son in Largo (Tampa Bay area), said it was forty degrees there this morning - his wife built a fire in the fireplace, and didn't even need to turn on the AC at the same time!

Brush fire in Marin County (north Bay Area) getting everyone nervous. Normally this time of year we aren't worried about fire. But it is really dry and windy right now.
