As for the plugs I will be installing a whole bunch each with their own fuse.
For surface mount when I canít get my hand behind easily I use these.

Back on topic...my wife will not do any camping without the custom fan I made her. When there is no AC or you do not want the AC on at night, this goes in the window above the head of the bed. There is a switch for each fan so we have individual control and the center switch actives 3 leds in the switch box for a night light. In the last trailer it tilted with light duty chains on top to get just the right tilt. The backing is peg board with two holes cut in it for the fans. I purchased the parts from the links below. The $3 fans are very quiet and the switchs are 10 for $2

Wow, how creative! Those fans really move some air?

I find the MaxxFan does a fantastic job with pulling in cool air at night and it is already there. It is quiet and with the awning windows functional in the rain in cooling down the interior.

Hi: cpaharley2008... Fantastic, and MaxxFan shouldn't be used in the same sentence!!! Could cause some confusion between products.
I never travel long distances without my biggest FAN!!! Alf

It's interesting Alf, after owning both I feel fantastic fans are not that fantastic but MaxxFans are fantastic, too bad we can not switch their names. Stay warm, less than 60 days before Spring.

We had one of those roof fans in our last trailer and having it pull air in the side window and up is not the same as direct wind blowing down your body. Without the direct fan my wife goes thermonuclear on a warm night...and that is not good for the world the next day. Sometimes I donít need as much cool so I leave mine off. It is also more power smart than the roof fans are. It is designed so that if one fan dies mid night I can flip the unit until I can replace it. It is what works best for us...

Yes, those are handy. I put one at the foot of the bed. Very handy for the TV and charging devices.

Not my wife in this case, me. For years in boats in hot climates we've found that a small targeted breeze could do a lot of cooling.
I made what I call my "hanging fan". My wife doesn't like a breeze unless it's really, really hot. I can rotate it slightly to accommodate both situations.

I have a small clip on fan that I use for my son in the backseat during the summer. I use it in my portable inverter (which I finally looked at and learned it's a 300w) and it works very well. Is this something suitable for this window application? I don't think I'll be able to build something so nice and custom, so a clip fan is about what we can do. Should I look for a 12v clip fan?

Clip fans are nice, we have used a couple over the past when one is hot and the other is not.

I use 12 volt fans, a small inverter for the tv, a portable Bose speaker that charges with 12 volt, an iPad or kindle for reading that often needs to charge while Iím reading. For those reasons I want extra 12 volt plugs located where they are most convenient. I primarily dry camp.
