What are all your extra outlets for?

I wish I had an exterior 12V outlet, so I could use my laptop while sitting under the awning. Now that I know how to use my awning.

I guess for the time being I'll turn on the inverter and power the laptop through the exterior 120V outlet, though that's inefficient.

Easy to add on a 21 since the battery is right behind the rear awning leg mount. I put one there so our 12V fan could sit on the picnic table and blow the mosquitoes away (and run wifeys awning lights.)

It wouldn't be very hard to add one. I purposely did not get one, wanting to first see how I would use it, and where to put it.

You can buy a DC extension cord in the meantime. Just run the cord out the door or a window. I also use the extension cord to power my compressor when filling my driver side tire.

I think of myself as a minimalist, but I did add 1 110 outlet on the front of the kitchen. I have one there in my Aliner and it works well. Having said that, I only realized last year that I had a second outlet under the bed, so I've done pretty well with 1 for the last 12 years! The Escape will be true luxury!!

How did you route the wires to the inside? I looked under the trailer and didn't see an obvious route, though I gave it only a cursory glance.

Thanks. I have no experience working with fiberglass, so for the time being I'll use the inverter. I'll be in the PNW later this year; maybe I'll ask Escape if they can add one for me.

Any boat/marine shop can install it. There are a few in Florida.

For us, it was the convenience of having an outlet available no matter where in the trailer we were located. Pure personal preference.

We did add two 12V plugs outside (one on each side) near the tires so we could plug in our 12V air compressor.

I have a small portable inverter I use in my car to plug a 120 into a 12 volt cigarette lighter.. Is there anything that does the opposite? Allow you to plug in a 12 V into a 120 outlet?

I'm sorry if this is an ignorant question! Does this wind up using just the 12v or does some get wasted in stepping down?

Do you use one like this? I've gone from 12v to 120v, but never this direction.

Does this require actually opening up the electrical and tying in, or is it plug in? I have a plug-in inverter for my car that gives me 120v, USB, and 12v panel. I've blown the fuse with a curling iron. Whoops. Can this be used in the Escape? Is there a recommended plug-in inverter that'll give me as much power as I can safely get out of the 12v outlet?

You can plug that inverter you already have into a 12V outlet in the trailer, but you can't run high-energy items, like a hair curler or dryer or coffee maker into it without maybe melting a plug ( done that ). You've already noted that there are better ways to make lunch than to run a microwave.
There are many small, cheap inverters available, and there are splitters and USB outlets.
You can get 12V chargers for most anything. I purchased one to charge my MacBook Air instead of using an inverter and the 120V charger.

What happens when you split a 12v? Do you get two good 12v?

Long ago I read about someone putting a 300w inverter in their Escape. Was this with larger gauge wiring? What's the highest wattage inverter I can use, and then can I plug anything into it that falls below the listed wattage?
