What are all your extra outlets for?

What are all your extra outlets for? I noticed that many of you are adding a bunch of extra outlets inside and outside your trailer. I can only think of an outlet for my cell phone and my laptop to recharge. Am I missing something important that I will regret later down the road?

I don't have any extra outlets...only one 12V (DC) and three 110V (AC) and I somehow manage to keep a phone and tablet charged during the day or use my television sometimes at night. There are some who use a number of appliances (at the same time?), though, so need more.

I think it depends on what you want to do and where are you doing it... I can see having a 12V outlet front and back helps with charging "stuff", and a 12V outside on the passenger side for outdoor use such as compressor, pump, vacuum.. one in each location makes 3 and it's a "bunch" :-)

We have two on our trailer right now (not an escape) and we usually use one to get a 4 port USB in to charge 2-3 devices and the other one we sometimes run a vacuum to get the ashes out of the mini green egg (smoker/grill)

I'm assuming you mean 12v outlets? In my first Escape I went for extra 120v outlets, as plug in 12v adapters were plentiful. In my last 2 Escapes I switched to having more 12v outlets due to majority of devices were now USB. Other than a/c, the rest of the trailer can operate off 12v/propane. Thus I feel the need for a couple of extra USB/12v. I installed one of these in my dinette table see#52 http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...ns-8841-6.html

We have the 2 standard USB/12V outlets in the front of our trailer by the bed and one by the door, and then we had Escape put 2 more of those in, in the upper side cupboards above the dinette.

We had the extra ones over the dinette put in so the kids can charge their ipads/iphones in their own "space", like we do in ours. So for us, a total of 5 USB/12V outlets. We did find the standard one next to the door gets used a lot!

We only have one 12VDC outlet and never use the one we have.
The only electronics we carry is a phone which we charge in the vehicle whIle driving . We do have a 12 VDC air compressor , which plugs into the 7 pin outlet on our tow vehicle.
I did add a couple of 120 VAC convenience outlets for appliances

I'm adding 12V outlets to power an XM Radio Receiver located over the bed, another in the space between the refrigerator & driver's side rear upper cabinet to power my cell phone amplifier, and one below it in the bench face to connect my various 12V camera battery chargers, and the 12V power supply for my laptop.

I am also adding a 120V receptacle that is wired directly to the converter rather than the inverter transfer switch. I will use if for my portable electric heater & avoid putting that 15 amp load on the transfer switch contacts. The rest of the 120V receptacles will be in the standard locations & wired to the transfer switch/inverter.

I am also adding a inlet for a portable solar panel to use during the winters to supplement the rooftop panels, and a port that will be used to connect an external WiFi amplifier the few times I need one.

This is our latest thoughts. They may change without notice as I read more on the forum.

We are adding a 120 volt outlet on the 45 degree board at the foot of the bed. It will power a small electric heater or the vacuum cleaner.

We are adding three 12v/USB plugs in the following places: the middle of the U-shaped dinette bench for a small inverter to power computers use without shore power. The front of the kitchen counter next to the 120 volt outlet to recharge devices. And at the head of the bed on the passenger's side for a 12v fan that my wife needs to sleep well.

We will also ask about moving some outlets

Just conferenced with Escape today. 4 extra 120V interior: --bench front PS for my phone, Kindle, Mac, Canon DSLR battery charger / 2-bench front DS for hubby's electronics / 3-kitchen cabinet front under stove to plug in coffee maker, extra crockpot / 4-bed for hair dryer and maybe small heater. One extra exterior 120v for party time: crock pots - blender - electric skillet, coffe maker, toaster. We camp with groups of friends a lot and we have potluck breakfasts and dinners. I love to entertain at home and on the road ����������������

You might need a 12V outlet nearer to the door than the standard one for a compressor for the tires. Standard one can probably do the other side. We have extra outlets at the dinette with 12v/USB as we use both sides for charging.

You may find that outlets you have are not conveniently placed or there are not enough. Many of us think that you cannot have too many of these outlets. We knew from our 19' that we needed more for our 21' and we added several.

We added 1-12 volt/USB outlet for a total of 2 and no 115 volt.

We get a extra 115 volt with the TV ready.

We typically travel with two adults and a teen daughter and use the 12V and USB plugs for charging 3 phones, 2 iPads, Bose wireless speaker, 2 digital cameras, and the TV. We have 4 12V plugs and sometimes wish there was one or two more.

There is always these 12V splitters, if you run short.

I added a 12V on the shelf above the bed in our 21; used to power a dual USB adapter for charging phones and Kindle on the shelf while sleeping instead of having cords draped all over.
