Ron,
Is that a vent I see in the picture or a heater? on the 45?

For Father's Day, I drove up to Porteau Cove Provincial Park, where my daughter, her husband and two grand kids were camping in my 17B. Dragged the trailer to the sani-dump and showed son-in-law the procedure.

I've never seen the black tank that full.

It's a heater. I already knew before I ordered the 21 that I wanted a central electric heater so I had them leave the area blank. I also wanted to leave the end of the bed free so that I could install the long storage drawer. The second door is around the corner, parallel to the side of the bed.

I slightly modified the vanes on the cover so that the warm air blows down the trailer to the dinette as shown by my primitive air flow testing.

The unit is controlled by a wall mounted thermostat on the shelf unit at the foot of the bed.

Much better than tripping over power cords for portable heaters and much more even heating.

Ron

I hope that I never see that.

Maybe it'll be the first RV lesson that just because it's out of sight doesn't mean that it's gone and they'll be a little more conservative on the toilet use in the future. Seems to be quite a variation on how fast some folks fill up the tank.

One possibility - Rather than trying to add a flap to cover the new faces created by splitting the existing cushion, you can order a set of fully finished half cushions without the foam from Escape. $153.40 Canadian for the pair, complete with zipper, etc. Ten seconds with an electric carving knife & you have 2 pieces of 42" wide foam that is easily stuffed into the fabric. You don't even need to wrap the foam in plastic & vacuum shrink it.

I installed mine on the side by the door where I had Escape install an outlet as preplanning...my 2 doors are on the 45 angle, the heat blows toward the door and bath area and there is an internal adjustable thermostat. I put it on a pilot light switch.

I notice a number of owners have built in electric heaters into the foot of the bed. Don't you have any concern about the quilts or blankets covering the heater? I know mine often ends up hanging almost to the floor at times...

I certainly had concerns. So much that when I found a rack from a discarded fridge that stood up on the area over the heater I said that we'd put the guard up any time that we're using the heater. It's proven to be a non-issue and we don't bother with the guard anymore.

Besides, we mainly use it when not in the bed and use the propane when in the bed, the temperature coming out or mine is not that hot as the heater is 500 watts max.

Being kind to our Escape

I finally got around to pulling the wheels, checking the brakes, and repacking the bearings. We have a happy camper now.
Before, I'd always jacked on the frame behind the wheel, but this time I positioned the bottle jack under the frame/axle connection plates (I had made a better crank handle so I could use the tow vehicle jack). FYI: 2 inches was the total rise necessary to get the tire tread off the ground.

so did you put some runners down to act as slides for it, or just lift it over the lip of the door sill ?

The rear crate has castors. There are guide rails so that it can't move sideways. So a slight lift and it slides over the aluminum threshold. The threshold acts as a drawer stop so that the unit can't slide aft under fast acceleration.

The medicine cabinet mirror is nice to have but my wife requested a more central mirror. So I had an old chunk of mirror. Always a risk cutting used glass. Any scratches on it and the cut takes off in a new direction.

But I got lucky, two perfect cuts. So it's mounted on the interior of the upper cabinet door where she wanted it. Handy for checking sun screen etc. Happy wife, happy life.

Ron
can I see a photo detail of how you did the castors?

doesn't seem like I need a guide on the left(street) side, as there's already the bed center supports acting as one.

Wherever you mount a mirror, take into consideration where the light is and how it will fall upon the face.

In Ron's case it looks like "perfect" as the vent lets light directly overhead shining down...great job Ron.
