Should add the awning lock. I modded mine to mount to the 'rafter' on the back. Only $45 is cheap insurance. http://waninglock.com. Distributor in Cedar Rapids so I was able to pick it up at his house, save few bucks postage. Mounting is not so straightforward on Escape due to the curvature...but plenty of help on forum for it!

Your dialogue mirrors my life every day several times a day. Today I needed to
Scrub the entry mat it was pretty dirty. I knew that my old sponge mop had lost its sponge the last time I used it. And I knew that the new one I bought and loaned to my son has not returned. So I went looking for a stiff broom I knew I had somewhere. Did not see it where I thought it might be, looked up into the trusses in my shop building. The perfect scrub brush with handle was reposing over the work bench. Brand new, and I have no idea of when or where or why I got it. It was very good for the job at hand. I’m about to put it back where I found it. Probably faulty rationale but it’s all I got. Then the search for the next thing we need to load for tomorrow begins. Needed a little butyl tape. Went to the big box store and got 45 feet for $8. Should be a lifetime supply.

This was done awhile ago

This was done awhile ago, and I've finally come across the photo for it. Reading of others misfortunes, I added these toggle clamps to the refrig door to keep it securely closed during travel. I had these clamps, they're used on sailboats to hold things down and from sliding...like small appliances, etc. The strips can bend 90 degrees, so 4 could hold a microwave or radio down on a boat.
In use the toggles are released and the strip put a top the frig. Solid, robust, quick and easy, and I had them sitting around, unused.
West Marine or Defender probably still carries them.

Missing Shelf

For those 5er owners, the later models with the open area under the radio, were built with a tall narrow cupboard next to the door, when I say tall, it is nearly 3 feet tall (floor to drawer). Inside there is only the 1 cavity. I, added a couple of supports and a shelf inside which break up the cavity nicely and increase the ability to organize this space.

Well worth the effort. Ours started to unfurl near home afyer pickup from ETI, yet fortunately we saw it and pulled over. Velcro straps will not prevent this from happening - just ask CPA Moderator.

Yep I’ve had one on ours since our awning unfurled on the trip home picking it up. The awning lock mechanism broke. Best thing one can do for their manual awning

I assembled the car (camper) port a few years ago after it sat in pieces under a tree for 9 months. It was not a one man job (certainly not when putting the roof together was the next step).

I had always wanted to install some kind of sun blocker on the east side as it gets the entire morning sun which can increase the outer skin temp to as much as 140 F in the heat of mid summer.

This was a one man job using straps to hold the shade horizontal with the mounts at 10 feet.

The difference in surface temp is very noticeable (to the touch) even with moving into the lower Fall sun pattern.

They roll up manually which only takes about 11,000 cranks (each).

The manufacturer is called Steelmaster. They were in Canada when I ordered the kit. They loaded a semi rig with 8-10 kits and shipped it from Canada doing a loop that took nearly two weeks before returning to Canada. They apparently have a US presence today.

I'd suggest using a suction type handle until you are sure where you want a permanent one installed....

21C bed mod

New mattress day. After about a month of sleeping on the stock 21C mattress, we decided to go for a good foam mattress.

Bought a Tochta Utopia. I would say it is unwinding as I write, but it reached full shape and support about 15 minutes after we unboxed it and placed it on the platform.

An unusual combination of initially softish with almost immediate feel of support.

We decided to get a mod to enable easily opening the bed hatch.
