Back to mods. . .

My wife Jane found a piece of commercial-grade carpet, and cut it to fit the floor of our E21C. It's low pile, easy to clean, and water-resistant, a little easier on bare feet than the cold vinyl. It's not glued in, so easy to take out if needed.

Curious about your Springfield table base. Did ETI install it? I'm thinking of putting one in in place of the original two legs. Can't find table weight limits on the Springfield website.

Springfield weight limitations

I would guess the limit is more to the attachment to the floor than the device itself. I used the old screws from the tube bases. Only 1/2” grab, unless you thru drill holes to the exterior and thru bolt.

Otherwise, the device is good for 200-300 lbs , I am guessing.

Attachment to the trailer is more an issue than it’s strength.

The Springfield was an option in 2019, and original owner Shawn opted for it. He also augmented it with a used (and rare) Dicor top that slides both sideways and fore-and-aft. We are the beneficiaries of his choices (the vivid green Sunbrella cushions were his custom choice, too).

Do you know how ETI mounts it? Screws or bolts?

What exactly are you worried about exceeding the weight capacity of the Springfield? When it's locked it's not going anywhere.

I've never given it a passing thought except for off center loading. In the case of a person pushing down with all their body weight at the edge I think that there could be a danger of ripping out the mounting screws. But that's probably true of any table top.

I believe they use screws. But I had my two trailers delivered without the tables installed so I don't know for sure.

Depends on the trailer but bolts aren't an option is some cases.

I use something called a "threaded insert". Much larger surface area gripping the plywood and much stronger.

We are packing our E19. Mexico is calling and in less than a month we should be in Mexico and partway to the Puerto Vallerta area. Swimsuits were exchanged for sweatshirt(s), long pants removed, more T shirts added to the clothing box. Now 1 sweater, 1 pair of long pants, 3 swimsuits, have taken up residence. The 7 gallon water ballast container has been moved making way for 3 liter wine boxes.

Full wash and wax to clean the trailer up before a month long trip to Erie, PA for steelhead fishing. Used 3M Marine Fiberglass Cleaner and Wax with a Snap-On variable speed rotary polisher at about 1800 RPM and a 7” wool pad. Some of the tight areas around components done by hand.

Fishing

Your trailer looks very nice. I can’t quite tell the graphic color. Our 2010 19 was spectra red graphics I think.
We lived in Painesville Ohio for a short time in the late 70s I remember the enthusiasm of the local fishing community when the steelhead ran. They are pretty good eating. We had a guy in Scouts who brought some back from Michigan and we baked them in an oven. They were excellent. Good luck.

You nailed it Dave - Spectra Red. I believe it was the only graphics color offered for early 19's. They have held up well.

Fortunate to have three generations out there fishing together in a quiet, beautiful place. We eat some but mostly catch and release. On occasion I have smoked some fillets and that is very tasty.

I have only tried farm raised steelhead from Costco and I prefer it to any salmon I have had. Is wild steelhead pink fleshed?

I cedar plank a fair amount of the Costco steelhead; I find it on the road too occasionally. It too is pink-ish; the last good local fresh one was in Moab at:

Very good butcher shop, as is Scanga Meat Co. in Salida, CO.

Laundry hamper at Aldi, fits nice in a 5.0-till they’re gone. It’s a Aldi's thing.

Yes, depends on their diet but typically a light pink or pale orange color.

A few updates over the last few weeks............

1. Removed the frosted film from the entry door window - I can see now - wonderful!

2. Changed out the original E19 framed kitchen window for a frameless - wonderful! (much better view out as well as "open in the rain" capability) and easy...might do the bath as well. Have frameless in the rear from ETI. Manual awning so the "big" side sliders are fine, but the little sliders, not so much....

3. Removed the "Escape 19" graphics from the front rock guard and the rear - much better look IMHO

4. Changed out the cushion covers from Tenancity Harvest to Chinchilla Ultraleather. Ditched all the valences, though I have new Ultraleather ones if needed . Also went for the split backrest with 4" cushions for the U-dinette - MUCH BETTER! Already had the split U-bench bottom cushions.(inventory trailer win - so I am "making it mine" I need to split the u-dinette seat deck plywood now............next!

5. Spun the power head of the tongue jack 90 degrees to clear my F-150 tailgate. My jack unit did not have the extra holes so I had to drill and tap new ones - no biggie - worked fine. I used the powerhead bolt holes as a template for the new holes. Drilled and tapped the first one thru the powerhead in place thru bolt hole, put the bolt in, then drilled and tapped the 2nd one. All good. it is HEAVEN being able to open the tailgate while hooked up now!

That carpet looks great! How did you finish the edges so they don’t unravel?
