John you have gotten many good answers to your question, and with a great deal of technical info as well. My tire shop said that for trailer tires there does not need to be an offset, like others have said.

With no insulation the cover acts as a little hot box, filling with insulation should lower the temp of the outside of the glass, sounds like we need a true science experiment!
Thermal conductivity of the glass to the interior should dissipate any heat just as it does with no insulation but all of this is pure conjecture and way beyond my level!

Last year we did some renovations on our townhouse. We showered in the trailer for a month. We drained the grey water with a pail and dumped it down the sewer. It was kinda fun. It made us feel like we were camping.

Not sure the fish appreciated the soapy water.

I didn't realize the fish were connected to the sewer.

Did you dump in the storm drain or the sewer/septic?
Actually the fish are connected to everything since the water treatment plant dumps into the ocean, or river. One of the reasons we are asked to return drugs to the pharmacy instead of flushing them down the toilet.

No Problem. It's good to see the word is out there about the perils of putting obnoxious stuff down storm drains. I am the type of guy that gets a little perturbed when I see people abusing the environment too. I even give the straws back to the clerks at Macdonald's when they hand them to me.

Storm drains in our area have notations near the inlets noting the fact that water that enters the storm system goes to the river. That, unfortunately does not stop people from putting waste oil, antifreeze, outdated pesticides and all sorts of bad things down those inlets. Fines need to be increased X10. Knowing Len as a birder and wildlife photographer I figured he meant sanitary sewer where the waste water either goes to a septic field or water treatment plant. We have huge problems in Iowa with land applied animal wastes from confinement hog operations, mega dairy milk producers, and cattle feed lot operations being applied in late winter and then having heavy rain fall on frozen ground. Fish kills abound. Yet we see ads on TV touting the responsibility of the farm community and its respect for the land. I am of the “whatever water falls on our land stays on the land” group. We farm 97 acres out of 117 that our family owns. The remainder is in fence rows and a Federal Wetland Reserve program. At the home place, the turf grass and prairie absorb all rain and snowmelt, even some from neighbors. Land stewardship is job one for me as it was for my parents and grandparents. Think globally act locally.

Hi Dave. Sounds like you live on a great spot. Some of our storm drains have fish symbols painted on them to remind people of what lies downstream, but as you say, some just ignore them.

Sigh. I winterized Ten Forward today. Pushed it as long as I could. Portland, Oregon may get down in to the 20sF overnight the next couple of days. We've never had temperatures that low in Portland in October since they started keeping temperature records. Checked the water in the batteries and sweeped some leaves off the solar panel.
I guess winter is really coming

The high here today was -8°C (17.5°F). I was working sheltered outside so it was quite nice. Supposed to be warmer by this weekend, but only for a short bit. Yeah, winter is coming.

We planned to head south from our mountain house on Nov 1. This morning the low was 42°F, and Tues is forecast for 32°F. We hooked up the Escape and were in Phoenix by noon. We'll move to where the weather suits our clothes and the trailer does not get injected with the pink stuff.

Yup, sigh, I guess. I keep saying "maybe we'll have an Indian Summer", (are we even allowed to use that expression these days ) but a couple of mornings with light frost convinced me to dig up my dahlias. Hate to do it when they're still flowering.
We'll just have to accept that folks like Jim up in the frozen North are probably out there in their T-shirts loving it. Me, I hate this time of year.

Me too. I've come to the conclusion my body doesn't like daytime temperatures that are lower than my age. Yep, 67F sounds perfect

Yeah, but all too soon, you'll then be complaining about the heat .

Ready for winter!
I've waxed and winterized our E21 over the past few days, and put the cover on today. It's going down to freezing tonight, so I'm just going out to set the thermostat on our 500W baseboard heater, and turn on the Dyson fan to keep condensation at bay.
