Made a sand pad. Only made one to check the fit etc. but I've made a jig so the others will be quick and simple.

I used aluminum because even if it gets crunched into gravel there's no paint to chip off and give rust an easy start.

I usually use blocks of wood but with these there'll be some places where they can go directly onto concrete or a firm surface.

Despite the horrible rain I tried it out and I'm happy with it.

While you guys are adding I've been subtracting. Well actually it's addition by subtraction. Needed to change out my red LED night lights I installed inside the range hood a few years ago and, messed it up. Now got to re-do those LED's but ran into more troubles. Still working on a solution. Too painful to explain here - Murphy's law.

Nice feet you got there, Ron.

Yah, Murphy's law, my least favorite law. Well you figured it out before, now you have to do it again.

I'm a little surprised at how small the pads appear. They're 6" x 6". I've wanted them ever since I put the stabilizer down on one of those yellow plastic pads and the end of the stabilizer cracked it.

The new shoes look good Ron.
Since I don’t have your machining abilities, I just finished installing yesterday the pad kits they sell for the stabs. Mine won’t be aluminum but the pads look like a very nice improvement.

These should be what owner's need if they want to add the ones made for the C-jacks by BAL:

Yes, I was fed up with the stock legs and blocks of wood so I got the store bought sand pads and then like a smart-a$$ screwed some cedar about 4 inches thick to each one. So I wouldn't even have to crank so far. Well that is ok on the rear, they are still there. The front are gone, they hit everything, the hitch end of the trailer dives quite often pulling into or out of driveways, service stations, your own driveway where it meets the street...

Dave,

Those are the pads I installed yesterday. Two sets were about $24. A little interesting to install, but once I added a hammer to get the bolts through the tight channel it went quickly.
They’d been sitting in the garage for a few months, but really needed them on last trip so got busy. They will help tremendously on the Lunar surface at Quartzsite.

Yup what I put on the jacks . Then used stainless bolts and nuts and added the yellow little blocks to the bottoms . So far see no rust etc. and nice stable feet . Pat

Greg I believe they were made by Camco . They came with a black strap to hold them together . Got tired of putting under the plates of jacks so decided to install on the plates . Forgive the trailer is kind of dirty right now .I cut down the handle on one side to square up too. Pat

Went out and checked the trailer, it is 28 degrees outside and 45 inside, felt toasty without the biting wind. Electric oil filled 700 watt heater is on, set to low, red power button glowing. Installed some reflectix over the 2 small single pane windows to help with heat loss. Also put some reflectix in the the o/h bath and maxxfan vents to help with cold. Planning a trip over the holidays just to get out of the house. May just stay in the camper in the yard!!

Finished my sand pads. Now I have to wait patiently until I can put them down on some nice warm sand. Hard to imagine now with our heavy rainfall.

They're a bit of a misnomer because sand is the only surface where I'll probably still use wide blocks of wood.

Ron,
Any way you can roughen the bottom surface for better traction, like on smooth asphalt to prevent slippage? Cut some fine lines or cross pattern the bottom?
