I worked on installing my telescoping pole for my TV antenna. Then my swing arm for the TV arrived and I started looking at where I was going to install it. Then I got the word, no more Escape projects till Xmas is over. Bah, Humbug but Merry Xmas to all.

I was allowed to work on trailer mods again so I got the TV swing arm installed. That corner of the closet feels like it has more than the usual 1 x 2 framing. Pretty solid but that's a good thing when attaching something an arm holding a TV. I through bolted it rather than use the supplied screws.

I was going to extend the arm but I can see it OK from "my" side of the dinette. I'd only be watching TV from that location if the news was on at supper time.

Still have to figure out which unidirectional antenna to get. The number of conflicting and contradictory reviews is making my brain numb.

The BAL pads are the square ones, for the "C" type stabilizers.

Edit: Here's the replaceable 6x6 wood pads I added to preserve the metal pads.

But now you need to attach some plastic pads to protect the wooden pads which protect the metal pads.........

Recaulked all the upper lights on the trailer, for some reason the caulk only cracks on the uppers.

Hi Ron, see post 13 on this thread for how I fabricated brackets for my telescoping pole. In my case it is for a cell antenna.

Thanks for that but I have had a bit of experience fabricating mounts for poles.

I do two versions. The first for something heavy like my solar panel pole is more work but it's pretty robust. The second version is the quick and simple kind, no welding required. This one is for my TV antenna. Easy to make but I should point out if someone makes a mount like this to use compression sleeves inside otherwise the more you tighten the bolts the more the tube will squeeze in.

I was going to buy a pole like Mike's and I may well yet do so. But I looked around at my supply of thin wall tubing and found some that matched up fairly well. I machined bushings from PVC and got a nice firm sliding fit.

Or you could just simply replace the metal pads when needed.

Enjoy,

Why would you want to do that ? The plastic on the bottom saves the metal . Ours have been that way about 3 years now . Attached with of course stainless hardware . I rather do something once and move on to something else I can improve . Pat

Or you could just use aluminum to begin with and never have them rust and need painting or replacing.

I see the problem not being able to channel water and without the pad can be buried in mud kind of easy Pat
I want to also say at least we put pads on the jacks which in my mind looked incomplete as delivered on the trailer . Pat

Why? 1. The pads will become unusable in perhaps 8-15 years. 2. You're only making protecting the pads and still have to put down larger pads in suspect ground. 3. I've better things to do than worry about rust on the undersides of the pads. Used to farm and know how long it takes rust to ruin something. 4. Bought four pads that never arrived in time for our lone trip with our Lance. Have a fresh set for whenever they're needed. 5. not going to state the obvious.

Enjoy,

Perry

The yellow pads I put on extend at least 1/2 in all around from the added metal jack pads so not worried . Pat

I guess what I should explain is my concern ,was a better foot on the jacks . The yellow Pads are not smooth on the bottom . Therefore affording a better grip on the ground or if I have to use more blocks because of the terrain even a better grip on additional blocks . I attached to the jack pads because it was also a pain to add . Pat

Guess I could eventually get tired of doing it this way.

A little bulky to carry but sure cuts down on the cranking.

Plus a bit more side-to-side stability when the arms are close to horizontal,AFB this does that. I have started to use a pile of Lynx blocks under mine if the height to ground is fairly high.

I use this solution with the high lift axle on a 21 (also used it on the 17). While the front clearance is a bit tight, I haven't lost a block yet...
