Yes, I already have a locking pin from my bike rack. Although I do have an extra element of safety because the back will be bolted to a vertical post for the solar panel. I'm debating how strong and what locks to use on the doors. Might be better to go with the minimum so that if a thief wants in there'll be less damage.

No, there's a drop in floor. That's the only way that I could see the scale. Being that the back of a trailer is one dirty place on dirt roads it's no place for a slatted floor.

Well, don't hate me but camping "season" is just getting into high gear in Louisiana. Will be taking our maiden voyage to the tip of the BOOT (Grand Isle) in our new to us E19 soon. Pulled anode today to replace teflon tape because of tiny weep and flushed hot water tank. Also replaced foam weatherstrip on the shower vent cover.

Installed (if you can call that installing) the Fastway jack stand and maneuvered the 17b into the garage for the very first time. Also showed the trailer to a nice couple so they could compare to a 19.

Got my s/s hinges so I could fit the doors on the cargo box. Also installed the keyed "T" handle so that I can lock it. Have to fabricate slide bars that go up and down so that it's latched top and bottom.

Nice to have a project to work on when it's dark and gloomy outside.

Yesterday I got the cargo box painted. I didn't want to leave it shiny aluminum, following cars might not like that too much if the sun was shinning on it, it'd be blinding. And, while it looks nice when it's brand new, it does require ongoing maintenance to stay looking good.

Tried to match the tongue box for color. Didn't want stark white. So this is "ivory bisque". If I don't like it I'll respray it. The most work is proper aluminum prep. Respraying it is easy.

Today I made a scaffold that straddles my little car. Since the car doesn't get driven over the winter it seemed like a good place to park a sizable object when it's not being used.

Tomorrow I'll test fit it on the back of the trailer. Fingers crossed.

Well it could be 3,299 lbs. if it was filled with concrete.

The box is a semi-monocoque construction of 0.032" 5052 aluminium and weights 30 lbs. plus 12 lbs. for the steel frame that fits into the receiver. So, all up, 42 lbs. It is purpose built to hold specific items like my spare solar panel, zero gravity chair etc. and my kayak bag. Total weight will be 101 lbs.

The spare tire moves forward and the spare tire holder is removed so that's minus 45 lbs. for a net increase of 56 lbs. at the rear. The 101 lbs. isn't even totally on the rear receiver because there's a secondary bracket that attaches to my solar panel mast.

I'm thinking that maybe I should have gone for a more rustic look like the photo on the box.

Yesterday I gave it a wash as it got road spray on it last trip.

Today I swapped in a couple of 120V outlets with USB built-in ports for charging stuff.

Sadly, later today I will be putting the cover on for the winter, as the bottom is going drop out of temps around here in the next day or two.

We had a string of 70°F days (unusual for November in Oswego) and so I added a pair of 12V to USB outlets to the ends of the front over bed cabinet. My current radio does not charge the phone through its USB receptacle. Since it has Bluetooth, I can connect through that & use the overhead USB receptacle to charge the phone. The other will power my indoor/outdoor thermometer.

Emptied and flushed tanks, washed trailer (with wife's help) and stored for winter. A bay in barn is long enough to store truck and trailer both. A previous enhancement was a Lagun table mount. Did it a bit different than others, reinforced both bench front and floor under bench, and used 3/4" conduit to brace between back of bench and floor. The Lagun upright feels like it is bolted to a rock.

First time, what a job. I'm glad we split the work across two days and washed the 17 B on Sunday and waxed it on Monday. I was joking with my wife, I'm glad we don't have a larger trailer.

Now I'll be on track to wax twice per year as some of you have recommended.

Window Frames & Screens Cleaned, inside and outside.

Before & after of the kitchenette window which was the dirtiest. I'll be replacing all the corroded interior screws in these windows soon.

Feels so good to get these clean prior to covering our 17 B.
