What did you see at the Humdinger show?

Very nice pictures in the other thread, gbaglo. Quite the fisheye lens you have!

What else did you see at the show? Any unexpected observations? Was there anything so stupendous that I should go there tomorrow, given that I was at the Escape shop last week?

Re: What did you see at the Humdinger show?

Didn't see much else, but, I wasn't really looking since I have my Escape. I did pick up a Tow-n-see mirror for the passenger side of the RAV. Already had a driver-side. I expected to see more accessories, but maybe they were there and I just didn't find them.

I would have attended the session on solar power, but I figured my buddy Keath will do that and other research and I can just ask him what to get ( a generator, actually ).

I spent most of my time looking for the Old Bag who would wander off without telling me where she was going.

BTW. The lens on the Nikon D3 is a 14mm to 24mm zoom.

Re: What did you see at the Humdinger show?

Same experience as Glenn - didn't see too much (although I did enjoy the 13 and the 19 - and I really like the 5.0).

Not many accessories - was looking for more boondocking sort of stuff (solar etc, but not really anything along those lines - didn't see the solar demo either, maybe I can get info from Glenn who gets it from Keath).

I did have fun going through the really fancy pushers though. Doesn't really seem like camping anymore (suppose it isn't).

It was nice to see the "other" companies though - really emphasized just how high the build quality is with the Escapes. Although lots of the other trailers were fancy looking, you get the feeling that a poorly directed sneeze could dislodge entire banks of cupboards.

Re: What did you see at the Humdinger show?

Hi folks
I thought I’d tell you all about the terrific experience we had at the Humdinger show - we are so glad that the Escape units were there.
We’ve been on board for a 19’ since the offer was posted but had reservations about the layout. We thought opening the door and walking into the shower/fridge/wardrobe wall would be too ‘in your face’ giving the interior an unbalance feel being too bulky on one side. My much better half Pam was also undecided wanting to walk into the real thing before committing.
Well… walking into the 19’ at the show was a thrill. The look and feel of the interior is great! Reace has taken a notch out of the vertical support between the counter and bed which opens up sight lines and the fridge/wardrobe is actually an inch or 2 set back from the shower giving the corridor a wider feel to it.
So Pam walked in, sat down and said we’d take it [you guys out there will know what a key moment this was in the whole process]. So we committed to the 19’ on the spot to Reace and Tammy and set about figuring out how to personalize Toby-Hind.
We’ll be getting them to put in a small vanity drawer in the bottom of the wardrobe cabinet and a mirror in the door and as many opening windows as we can get. We’ll supply our own choice of upholstery fabric, cabinet pulls and plastic laminate for the counter and table. The radio option with the CD player and ipod dock is in, the micro is in, we’ll take the dual 6 volt battery option, throw some extra lights on the outside and do the propane quick connect and away we go.
The interior look and feel, ceiling height and the fact that Reace and his team brought it in under the 2600 lbs he originally estimated were the main factors that helped us decide.
Congratulations to Reace, Tammy and the whole team - great job. Such nice people.
We’ll be on the road soon with the rest of you Escapees.

Congrats Keath, I too thought had some of the same thinking as you about the bath being a visual block, though was willing to commit reagardless (had seen the same thing in an even narrower 17), I never got to see the 19 with the bath finished, but have no worries at all about the 'open' feeling.

They are under "Show Your Escape" which made sense to me at the time. And this subject was posted later, in General Discussion, where it should be.
