What is this??

I noticed this black flexible tube sticking out of the bottom of my trailer. It's located near the passenger side tire on my 2017 17B. Can anyone tell me what it is and what it's used for? Thanks for your help.

The fridge compartment above has a drain. This is likely the tube connected to that. To prove it just pour a little water in and see if it comes out.

Hi: LisaTomBuddy... I believe the black hose is a protective cover around the electric brake wires. That's why it's so close to the wheels. Alf

Alf: I believe they are asking about the hose end sticking out. It looks black because it got hit with some overspray when the foam was being painted.

Hi: rubicon327... I was referring to the "Black flexible" line emanating from the back of the brakes... not the straight pipe. I have been known to be wrong before!!! Alf

The black hose is covering your brake wires which activate your electric trailer brakes. The dirty hose protruding the foam is your refer condensate drain.....it drains any liquid in the rear refer compartment.

The covering over the two wires that activate the brakes looks like a hose but it’s actually a split piece of plastic. On the end opposite where the wire goes into the brakes backing plate are the two electrical connections about ten inches to a foot. If you peel the split plastic apart you’ll see the connections. If those connections are not protected, road salt can corrode these connections. It’s one of the trouble shooting inspection spots in case you have a brake or two that aren’t working even though voltage is going back there. Put that in your brakes troubleshooting memory bank.
