Where to camp in or near Sumas, WA?
I've scrolled through the threads and used the search function, so my apologies if this has been covered at length!
My husband and I ordered our Escape last year, and we'd originally scheduled pickup for April.
That didn't happen for obvious reasons, but at this point, we don't have a lot of faith that the US-Canadian border will open this year.
So we've gone ahead and scheduled a late August pickup in Sumas. I'm researching places to stay along the route that are taking good precautions and where we'll feel as safe as possible.
The question I was hoping y'all could help with is...where do we stay in or around Sumas once we have the trailer? I'm assuming it's good to stay close the first night or two, while we get our bearings and set things up.
Is there a spot that is highly recommended by others here?

Camping near Sumas, WA
Hi Brigg33,
Congrats on the new 21!
For us, we camped near Sumas at the KOA in Lynden WA. Here's our posting on the site. It worked quite well for us.

Wow, that looks like a nice lineup of Escapes. Are those all new owners?

On our recent trip to pickup in Sumas wenjoyed staying at Oostema Farmstead, it's quiet, shaded, and very quaint. They have acres of raspberries.... The services we used included potable water and power only. Lisa (owner) was super friendly and helpful for local questions. We'd definitely recommend this place for a night or two.

I stayed at Silver Lake Park in Maple Falls, WA, about 14 miles from Sumas.
A great starting point for a trip on the Mt Baker Highway & Artist's Point, although leave your trailer at the campground.

Thank you so much for all these replies and linking to your write ups! This is helpful, and hopefully this thread is a good resource for the next person.
I'm from Chicago, lived in the Bay area for a time and now am in North Carolina. The more I look into Washington's national parks and forests, the more excited I am to begin our journey there. But it's also really overwhelming, so your help on narrowing down the first step is a huge help!

Yes, it was a fun unexpected mini rookie rally. All of us were new owners except the one at the very far end. They got their Escape a few years ago, live nearby and simply enjoy camping at this KOA in Lynden...and probably anticipate and enjoy meeting all the newbies! -Bea
