Winter is Coming

We have had a bunch of snow the past couple days and the forecast was for temperatures to reach about -7°C last night. Lots of snow around and icicles hanging from everywhere. To avoid any issues with freezing of waterlines, I made a quick trip out to the 19' and to the 15B last night after work and drained the remaining water from the fresh and grey water tanks and the water heater, blew out the waterlines with compressed air, and put some RV antifreeze down the various drains. Probably won't be using the 19' again this fall (still need to wash and cover it), but the 15B is going on another 2 week trip to Vancouver Island in about 2 weeks. Hope the weather turns around and warms up for a bit. This is too early to have winter set in.

We will be winterizing our Casita this week and getting her ready for winter storage
Our other trailer will get the same treatment after we return from a rally in late September
Pontoon boat comes out of the lake next weekend and goes into winter storage
We are already making plans for the upcoming deer hunting season
No snow yet but God willing it will come soon , at least by deer opener
One load of firewood left to stack cause it may be along time until next May

I need to bring the 21 home and service the batteries. I thought we would use it in Sept. but didn’t happen. Took it to storage without checking the water and having a full charge. I don’t know if the solar panel does anything with those big fluorescents they have in those caves or not. It was at almost full charge after 9 months when I took it out this last Spring.

As for the snow, it can stay away. In my old age the only snow I like to see is on the top of some distant mountains. Loren

Don't know about flourescent lighting but, the solar on my 19' will keep the batteries charged through the winter, even with my inexpensive trailer cover over top of it. With the heavier Calmark cover on my 15B, the batteries will not charge from the solar, and I need to plug the trailer into AC mid-winter to top them up.

Dave, you mentioned coming to Vancouver Island soon. You may already be aware but thought I should let you know BC ferries has a promotion going on until Sept 30th where extra footage (beyond 20 ft combined TV and trailer) is half price on certain sailings ($3.25/ft vs $6.50) Here's a link for more info.
https://www.bcferries.com/promotions/bring-it-all.html Enjoy your trip here. Will be in France ourselves.

We had snow last night, but I still got my footings poured for an addition to my house. I am loving working in these temps just above freezing, SO much better than at 25°C or even higher like I had to this summer.

Now, if I was camping I would like something a bit warmer. Still hoping for some good weather for Thanksgiving as it would be great to head out camping for one last time before winter.

We are currently in the Prince Albert area in Saskachewan visiting my in-laws on their 65 acre farm. It's been cloudy and cool here, close to freezing. Rain expected tomorrow.

If it's getting cold up north.

That means snowbirds will be flying south shortly.

Thanks Larry. It is actually my son taking the Escape on a trip to Tofino. I will let him know about the ferry deal.

We have had warm and sunny here for weeks, the nicest September I've seen. It hasn't been close to freezing but we are on borrowed time for sure. This was last weekend looking west at Denali and it was t-shirt weather.

Neglected to say that is from the Curry Ridge trail off the K’esugi Ken Campground which is in Denali State Park about 135 miles north of Anchorage. Great campground.

That is the Alaska Range with the Chulitna River in the foreground. Here is a picture of Moose's tooth which is adjacent to Denali. It is easily recognizable even in winter because the vertical walls don't hold snow.

Really wish we hadn't forgot our regular camera, we had to rely on our phones

What is this other trailer you speak of? I never realized you had a second one.

Jim his description says 2018 SOB, guess that's the one he's bring to the Miss. rally even though he's got a Casita. Will check it out and let you know if Steve doesn't answer.
