We live in NE Ohio and love our solar. If you decide not to get it you might want to get it wired for it at least. How do others feel about solar

I am wired for portable. will see how that works. I didnt want to be tethered to parking in the sun.

The solar is really useful to us, even in Michigan. We 'boondocked' at the kids' farm near Ann Arbor in late March. For a week we ran the lights, computers, furnace (a LOT--teens to low twenties deg's every night) off the batteries. Batteries would be fully charged by noon. (We have a 2000W Champion inverter gen, but have decided we won't travel with it. It's kind of a nuisance.)

The kitchen window by the stove you'll be really happy with. Not just for light, but for combustion make-up air for the range. Every morning when we get up, Jan and I turn on the range vent, crack the window, and perk a pot of coffee. You can hear the fan change speed when you open the window.

Optional drawer under the wardrobe is really handy for us; it's the only drawer in our trailer. This shortened the wardrobe height, so a shelf in the wardrobe would conflict with hanging clothes.

Good luck with your choices! Bob & Jan

I have a 2000i too, used it on my last trailer once in a while. Bought the Escape solar ready and have since installed the same size panel as ETI does. MUCH prefer the quiet of the solar. Live in MA so similar weather to MI. Many travels over many months with the solar, not once have I needed the 2000i. After the first trip in 2015 with solar I stopped carrying the genny.

Prewire for solar... on my 5.0TA, it's just 2 runs of MC4, starting near the batteries, bare wire ends, going up through the corner trim through a cable gland, to the rear area of the roof and terminated with MC4s. Nothing I couldn't have done myself in an hour or 2.

Can always hire someone to add solar later if you decide to, or do it yourself.

I too have taken to leaving the generator ( 1000i ) at home and using solar to charge my batteries.
Have noticed fewer nods of approval from fellow campers when starting a generator these days. You also need to carry fuel for it, which is smelly and potentially messy.

We go out of our way to find fully treed camp spots in the summer...not hard to find here in BC. Solar on the roof does not fit our camping style.

I added (self-installed) a 120 volt outlet under the dinette bench. It powers a strip outlet that has the following items connected: 3 cordless phone bases (sigh, don't ask...*), 2 computer chargers, a charger for my drill, wireless router, Ooma internet-phone interface device, government radio base charger, and possibly a few other things that I have forgotten.

I'm very satisfied to have all this hardware out of sight and out from underfoot. There is a neat bundle of cords coming out of the seat to under the table, but this is a much cleaner solution than having 110 volt power cords all over the place.

(* Ok, I'll confess. Campground hosting requires being connected to the Park, and camping without cell service requires internet and landlines.)

Having the 110 outlet under the seat is so nice for this purpose that I am considering adding another under the opposite side.
