Your grandmother! Heck, I did that when I was a kid. Sometimes I remember the good old days when I ate anything I wanted with no regard to it being healthy. Now I fry my bacon and set it on paper towel to soak up the extra grease.

When we were kids growing up we lived in a poor neighborhood .
In the morning before school we would rub bacon fat on our face so when we got to school the other kids would smell the bacon and think we had a big expensive breakfast
We also made bacon fat sandwiches , smearing bacon fat on slices of bread and sometimes sprinkling a little sugar on the bacon fat for a real treat .
Those were the good old days

I must be the last person left that prefers thin, crispy bacon. It is getting hard to find in stores...

I'm actually ok with either one. It is, after all, bacon!

My favorite is what they call Deer Hunting Bacon up here in Northern Wisconsin
Slab bacon cut 8 to 10 slices per pound.
Our local meat market sells bacon in two thicknesses , thick cut & extra thick cut
Pork chops come the same way 3/4” thick are grill chops — 1 1/4” thick are thick chops
I was amazed when I went down South , all I could find was paper thin see thru pork chops .
When I told the butcher I wanted some real thick cut pork chops and described what I wanted , I was told
“ Them ain’t pork chops dems a pork roast “
I had a hard time keeping myself from laughing !!

and do not forget cooking your scrapple in bacon grease, I always store left over bacon grease in a mason jar for my scrapple or sausage. I'll try to look for some scrapple at the IGA store in Osoyoos and cook up a batch. I did some for Bruce, aka BCNomad one year.

i had had a taste of biscuits and gravy but always found the gravy awful.
I was recently at a trailer gathering in AZ where two of the guys provided it for bkfst for the group. It was AWESOME. I have the recipe and will make it for my son in law who is a big fan of biscuits and gravy.

I wish it did contain entrails, it is made from scraps not otherwise useable, bones and tendons boiled that form a gelatin, it is the corn meal seasoning and the way it is fried that gives it's flavor.

I really wanted to post this on a totally unrelated thread, as is the tradition, but here is a link to poutine.
You do have to listen.

I wasn't trying to convince anybody to eat poutine. Has never passed my lips. But, I do enjoy the Debaters and the topic seems to be appropriate for these forums. Glad you enjoyed and hope you enjoy poutine soon.

aaahhhh, another favorite, ginger ale. We recently had a newcomer locally, https://abcbrew.com/soda/ I guarantee you can not taste their ginger beer without experiencing the almost snort impact of the ginger on your palate, it is breath taking, literally, almost like fresh horseradish but with ginger, really exhilarating. Not ginger ale but ginger beer....alcohol free. They do the same with root beer also.
