16 Mods in 16 day of ownership

I picked up our new 2020 E19 a little over 2 weeks ago. Most nights, after my nearly-2-year-old and pregnant wife go to bed, I’ve put on my headlamp and head out to the driveway to tweak the trailer.

To date, I’ve owned the trailer for 16 days and completed 16 (ish) mods:
- cut to size a teak board for inside the shower
- installed several Ikea towel racks and tooth brush holders
- installed two bars inside the medicine cabinet to keep the shampoo in place
- upgraded the shower curtain
- installed a shoe rack inside the bench door, and built a wall behind it so the shoes do fall too deep into the bench area
- built the 4-milk-crate system for under the bed, along with felt pads and a retaining system for driving to stop the crates from sliding out
- built a wall under the bed between the milk-crates and the outdoor access hatch to help retain my lawn chairs, outdoor stove, etc.
- installed the Ikea LUROY bed slats (incl cutting them to size and putting supports to raise the mattress an extra 1/2 inch for additional air flow)
- installed numerous Umbra hooks
- installed a paper towel holder in a great location (thanks Ed)
- turned my power jack sideways so that my hatch on my Santa Fe SUV can now open (this one took a bit of work to tap out some new holes)
- installed a metal bug screen on the furnace outlet
- installed a metal bug screen on the fridge vents
- built a “ramp” to back the trailer onto in my driveway so that the trailer is level despite my steep driveway
- installed a tire pressure monitoring system
- padded the inside of the front storage box so I can toss things in without risk of hurting the fibreglass
- added weather stripping onto the lid of the front storage box
- removed the regulator on my fire pit and BBQ and installed hardware to connect them to the trailer’s quick connect port
- took a series of photos of my work giving myself a thumbs up (photos in the following posts)

This weekend, we will pop out for our first night in the trailer - I am sure to come back with a few more mods to work on.

Just wanted to say MANY thanks to all who have given me ideas on this forum and those who have answered my questions. We will be having baby number two in February and plan to do our first road trip to the Osoyoos Rally in May with the infant and two year old in tow. I hope to meet many of you there!

What brand of tire pressure monitors are you using.

Hmmm, is that a different bathroom window again? Is that a tip out window or the slider, it’s a little dark to tell.

They just finished my 19 footer last week.

Love the thumbs up pictures. But I'm surprised that your weather did not hinder your enthusiasm?
Is it not too cold now there?

Great job!
I want to hear the follow up of the 1st trip taking a pregnant woman who’s due in a couple of weeks camping.
You sir, are a brave man.

Hi Doug - no, that is the standard bathroom frameless window. It is a tip out. The TPMS is TireMinder. I did a fair bit of reading and picked that one.

Ha! Thanks - I will let you know how it goes. It is forecast to rain all weekend here in Victoria, but if we miss this window we will have a newborn who, I suspect, will be even less enthusiastic about camping for a few months...

Thanks Jim. I appreciate your (and others’) ideas and help over the past month! Yes, the constant rain (and week of snow) were not idea working conditions but what can you do... (other than take the trailer south for the winter, which would not go over well with my pregnant wife or my work!)

Well what's a new trailer for if not to do mods.

Caution: mods are addictive, my mod total for my last 3 trailers is well over 100.

Enjoy.

Thanks Ed. Your forum post on your Mods was a big inspiration for a large number of the stuff done thus far! I had the milk crates, paper towel holder, metal doweling for the medicine cabinet and a few other items purchased before I even bought the trailer, based on your posts! Appreciated!

I think you will find that Victoria is a lot warmer and dryer than "Chilliwack".

Wow, Jordan, You are a mod demon! Nice job. If your new one is a good sleeper you may find you can go more often. Newborns stay where you put them--no so a 2 yo. I look forward to meeting you at Osoyoos. If you need a grandma while you're there, I'm on it.

Awesome - be careful for what you sign up for! I was going to suggest that Escape put babysitting on the activity list...somewhere right after "wine tours"

Very nice mods! Question, how did you get the divider under the bed to keep stuff from hitting the milk cartons? I haven't looked to see if I can just lift up the bed yet. Those openings are pretty small, LOL. I mounted two tracks with cartoons and my stuff slides over and stops the one from working.

Nice mods. Very similair to some I have done on my 19.
Where did you source the bug screen for the furnace?
