19' bathroom ceiling vent

Hi, has anyone ever modded the ceiling vent in the 19' bathroom? Power fan? Different vent cover? What have you? Thanks! j

We have just the regular non powered type, and have never felt the need for having a fan. Only a few times have we even cracked it to help dry out the bath, otherwise 99% of the time it was closed.

ditto for us. Also, we tend to open the window in the bath rather than the roof vent (no real reason, that is just what we do).

That Escape 19 vent was one of the reasons I upgraded to the 21, I could never find a replacement vent cover. I think it is mad overseas (heng) is the manufacturer. Anyway, it is in the bath so any leaks would be moot.

We open both the window and the vent. Don't know why it's just what we do. I guess it's because we have the new slider window and it don't seem to open that much. Seems to dry out the bath fast with the Maxx fan on.

If we used the shower more, a fan might be handy. We don't have a window, it was not offered at the time. Don't miss one at all though.

My wife keeps asking for a fan, dunno how I would hook it up if I found one. I guess off the light circuit in the forward overhead.

But a window sounds nice, as we had one in the Casita. Convenient for using a hose to flush tanks too.

Anyone added a window after the fact?

Sounds like a road trip to Chilliwack, maybe get some other "nice to have" options. The bath window with the filing vent will do what the fan would do and will let in a lot more light. Perhaps another window in the kitchen? I contemplated on getting the door window replaced with the opening window Escape installs now in the bath, I believe it is the same size and would be nice at night to leave open for cooling.

If I do that I want a bigger black tank too. Not sure that is possible, or perhaps I should say affordable.

Yes, is it opening?
The larger black tank seems like a lot of effort, have you ever used one of those portable tanks. The black tank is inside under the toilet and extends under the dinette seat, fairly protected from freezing in the winter. I have used those portable tanks, work real well. I also try to use the public facilities as much as possible to keep my internal tanks use to a minimum.

The window behind the sink does not open.

The black tank is small, so it does not extend under the dinette seat that I can see. Ours is configured so a sattelite receiver can be set there and the cables are prewired to the outside, and to the TV which is over the bed.

We may end up having to buy one of the totables.

Even the original black tank in the 19 goes about 10" into the dinette seat storage.

Ours has a shelf and wiring for a satellite receiver there so perhaps that is concealing it. I will have to look under it.

Yes, Escape covers the tank in the 19 dinette with wood for protection.

What is the bathroom ceiling vent in the new 21? From the picture that I saw of the 21 from forward right quarter there appears to be a black dome cover over the bathroom - could that vent be like the Casitas? It would be an improvement over what we have in the 19.

Yes, it has a powered vent, similar to Casita in the bath ceiling. With a window I feel it is an ideal set up and with Escape now trimming the door smaller there should be plenty of ventilation.
I also do not have to worry about finding that replacement vent cover in the 19', it is really an odd dimension.

I had to replace my bath vent cover after a hail storm, the Maax fan was okay, and it was a stock item at a local RV shop.

Yes, the 14x14 is industry standard for vents, thus your 2 ceiling vents are available at most places, but the bath one is 9x9, I believe and I could not find it on line.

Bigfoot uses them in their bathrooms too (or did). I need to replace the one in my mom's 1988 17'.

A quick Google search for "9x9 RV vent cover" turned up a bunch of options.

Hi Jim, this is not WRT the bathroom vent, but I have a question specific to yourself. I have just purchased a 2013 Honda Pilot and I am going to switch back from a motor home to a trailer. My choice is the Escape 17B or the 19" as it just for one person and pet. The Pilot can tow 4500 lb so the 17B at 2100 lb is not that taxing on the tow vehicle do you have a sense of the highway gas mileage you obtain when towing your 19' Escape that you could share.
