19 smaller table, bench seat

We bought our Escape 19 with the standard dinette layout but began to think that we didn't need that much table. We'd prefer more area for seating or to stretch out and read a book or watch TV. We built a smaller table and a bench seat. This was a really easy and inexpensive project and we can convert back to the original configuration in less than 10 minutes if we need/want to. We made no modifications to the trailer.

The table top is a toolbox top from Home Depot. The pedestal and table mount are standard items from camping world. The bench is 3/4 inch birch plywood cut to 15" X 30". To stiffen the plywood and make a more finished look, I bought 2 each 1" X 2" X 24" pieces of oak at Home Depot.

The cushion is 4 inch hi density foam cut 16" X 31". We got this at our local foam dealer.

Total cost of the project is less than $75.

Forgot to mention that the table top rotates for easy access to driver side seating.

Excellent conversion. When we were planning our purchase we thought the large standard table would be useful. In practice, we find it to be too large and often just slide it all the way to the driver's side and not use the driver's side seating. We were talking about removing the table and finding a portable table of some sort. Your solution gives me something to ponder as an alternative to the standard table top. Thanks for sharing.

As I said, this was a very easy project. Literally no change to the factory build. And it was inexpensive. Give it a try.

If you order the U shaped dinette, they box in the lateral seat. IMO, boxing in the bench will make it seem more crowded. This option allows you to tuck your feet under the bench or slide something under it like a case of bottled water.
