2" Receiver 150 Lb Limit on 21NE

Has anyone successfully upgraded their 2" receiver to 300 Lbs so that a small motorcycle can be carried on the back of their Escape21?

I would be interested in knowing the particulars of such a modification and whether or not it would affect the overall load distribution on the RV. It seems to me that an additional 150 Lbs should not create much of an issue.

If you are knowledgeable, please respond and Thanks!

Thank you for your input and to anyone else who might read this please be advised that Carl has made me see the light and talked me out of the modification.

I don't know what Carl said but would like to add this.

For every 10.4 lbs I add to the back bumper of my 21NE, the tongue weight decreases 5 lbs. Adding weight to a bike rack or any other extension behind the bumper will increase the amount of weight coming off the tongue compared to just adding it to the bumper.

The amount of change to the tongue weight is affected by how the trailer is balanced on the dual axles so if the tongue is up a little from parallel to the ground then the balance fulcrum moves back toward the rear axle and visa versa if the tongue is down.

I saw a gentlemen with a Casita who carried a small motorcycle between the truck and the Casita last fall. It extended the length of the hitch between the truck and trailer. The truck was an F150. The motorcyle was a 350cc or something like that.

If you have a Ford f150 then it is easy to remove the front tow hooks and bolt in a 2 inch receiver on each side down the frame. Then you can make a motor bike or E bike holder.

This is one that I have that my Uncle used many years ago for his Honda 125 trail. I remember it on the front and rear of many of his trucks.

300lbs on the front of your vehicle will nicely offset the weight of the trailer on the back. You will also be able to drive your bike to the trailhead or recover it if it breaks down. Or for others your E bikes via the hwy to a nearby town to explore.

The ball mount and pin allowed my uncle to tip one side down for easier loading and to remove the cross bar completely.
