21 Latch Side door frame info

Been searching (without success) about what's inside the door frame in case I want to run wiring for a light underneath for the entry step. Finally emailed Reace and asked, got this response:

Hi Charlie

There is a 1-1/4” flexible vent pipe running through that side of the door jamb which is the vent for the grey tank. There is also the wires for the overhead running down. You should be ok drilling in as long as you are careful.

Charlie,
I think there are 3 ways to get that step light we both want. I have the light in the overhead and thought about bringing the wire down thru the stripper pole to underneath to the door side. Another source is to run a wire from the battery in the dinette thru the kitchen to the door side.
The third is to tap into some of the wires already in that door chase and drop it down lower. Once it warms up that will be my next mod.

I bought a small LED strip that can attach directly underneath, in the middle and run the wire under the door gasket over to the side. I also have a small LED license plate bolt light that can be installed over by the edge without any exposed wiring. Haven't made my decision.

No rush here, either. Original plan was to tie into the outside door light switch, but now we're thinking we may want a separate switch. I have spare 12V drops under the bed, the water lines penetrate the floor behind the 45 degree face under the bed, so that might be a good place for a switch - from there it's a simple hop over to the step area for wiring, can strap to the water line most of the way there. Would be easy to reach from the doorway or while heading for the door after dark.

Your water lines exit the trailer floor under the bed at the 45 degree face? I assume you do not have the foam? Mine stay inside all the way to the rear tank. I wonder if ETI reroutes water lines dependent on the foam package?

Nope, no foam here. I would think that with foaming, having the water lines closer or flush to other surfaces to be foamed would make it easier for the foam to cover the lines, but more expensive to manufacture for ETI. Mine stand off an inch or so from some underbody surfaces.

See and mine are entirely within the unit, all the way back to the rear. With yours it would be real easy to install a low point drain, you have several choices.
