21ne mattress recommendations

I have seen many posts where people replace their mattresses, for whatever reason. We would like to replace our mattress in our 21NE with a Short Queen so as to make a "footboard" storage area. Has anyone done this with a 21NE? Also, looking on many mattress websites it appears we would have to customize the mattress to accommodate the round corners of the wall. Is this really necessary, or can one make a traditional square corner work in this space? And what is the radius of the round corner anyway? Thanks for any advice/help you can provide.

We ordered a new mattress from Mattress Insider in Colorado. We asked for a 10" radius on the "top right" and "bottom right" (the rear of the trailer), and requested it be hinged in the middle (to make it easier to get it in/out of the bed alcove).


They made a mistake on the first one - didn't do the 10" radius. Sadly we had to completely unbox it to see that, and it's pretty much impossible to get it back in the box. When we put it in place on the platform, it didn't fit.


Good News for us, their customer service is Excellent and we were shipped a new mattress within a week of reporting the problem. Hip Hip to Mattress insider!


Bottom line - yes, you need that 10" radius for the 21NE mattress.


And based on our experience, you can't go wrong with Mattress Insider!
