We are finishing our final build sheet for a 19 foot trailer. We aren't sure whether its worth it to raise the floor dinette by 3" and have a few questions and seek your input. My wife is 5'3" and I am 5'10". With the extra 3" when sitting down can you see out the front window? Is the linoleum flooring finished under the bench seat? Is it more difficult to get in and out of the dinette area? If you contemplated this option and didn't proceed with it, why not? Any input is appreciated or pics.
The flooring covers the complete floor front to back. The passenger side under the bench is usually empty and the floor is covered. The drivers side however has part of the black water tank in it and any electronics. Here is a picture of the drivers side I took in the show room.
I am 5 10 and found the windows uncomfortably high...so much so I will personally raise the floor as high as I can go without hitting my head on the cabinets above.

We are about the same height. It's much easier to see out with the dinette raised.

Yes, but the benches are full depth, so raising the dinette will also increase storage. The floor under the benches is the same level as the unraised floor. The raised area consists of raising the center floor section and the bench height a corresponding amount.

Not for us. With the benches slightly higher, we find it easier.

We raised ours . If you don't you can't see out the windows very well and we felt like we were sitting in a hole .Pat

Not the case for everyone. We do not have a raised floor in our 19' and have had zero difficulties or issues looking out our windows. Of course, no one in my family is vertically challenged, so if you can limbo without bending over, it may be best to get the raised floor.
Guess it would depend how much time one is going to spend in the trailer. We sit outside under the awning most of the time and eat outside unless forced in. Ours isn’t raised and we never would have known it was an issue for some had it not been discussed on the forum. We can see out fine and it is usually dark and the blinds closed when we are sitting there. If you have the money and it’s important to you then definitely add it. Nice that there are options to choose from to meet everyone’s needs.

We raised the floor our shelves,it was one of the easy mods I did at first . We were on our first camping trip and noticed sitting at the dinette we couldn't' see out the windows very well and felt like we were in a hole. We were used to sitting up higher in previous RV's . We do sit outside and eat outside also but sometimes want to sit at the the dinette and be able to see well outside . That isn't the only change to the dinette we have had to make either . Not very comfortable . Lots of threads on what others have done . Pat
I'm not at home and my travelling computer doesn't have my Escape mods on it The mod was posted but I don't knpw what the title was. Works well if the person's size still let's their feet rest on the floor OK.
Hmm, it looks like for a quick test to see if Ron's mod would work for you you could grab the seat cushion from the other side and stack them.
I might give that a try next time I'm in the trailer.
One question, does the table affect the EMS system on yours if that is what it is? I noticed it is above the table. On mine there is a switch to disable the EMS.
I'll leave ours where it is, just curious.
I hope the photo comes through for this post. We have a 19 with the u-shaped dinette. We had the dinette raised 3” on our build sheet and we love it. I am about 5’3” and it would be difficult to see out if it wasn’t raised. The raised floor also allowed us to have different hardware for the post that holds the table. It is set into the floor instead of sticking up. ETI installed it for us. This allows the floor to be flat when we don’t have the table up. We can put a small rug over it and the hole disappears.
It does take a few times to get use to the 3” step, but no problems.
Regarding the table, we had ETI make a small (24”) round table. This has the hardware that allows it to slide just like the regular table so it is very easy to get in and out. It only uses one post which allows for more foot room. It wobbles a little bit, but nothing we can’t live with. The 24” table fits on the floor when the dinette is used for a bed.
We also have 2 filler boards, also made by ETI, that we store under the mattress on the foot end of our bed. No, we don’t even notice them. This allows us to make the dinette into a bed easily without the standard table.
We like the dinette both with and without the table in place and it is nice to be able to easily change it.
Wow, thank you everyone for your posts. We just joined the forum yesterday and we are so amazed at the support and help everyone gives each other. Thank you. We really appreciate the pics and the great information. You’ve given us lots to think about.
