5.0 Door limitation modable?
I'd rather have a door that can open at least most of the way back against the hull, so I'm not a fan of the 90 degree limitation on the current 5.0. Anyone know why they did this? Is there a way to safely modify it to open more? My forum search on this didn't come up with anything.

My door opens almost all the way. It is way past 90°.
It is not a problem at all.

I thought it was a odd way to do the door when we looked before ordering. We've owned several RVs and never had a door like that but now after using it for about 6 months we like it. It doesn't get in our way and you don't have to latch the door to the side of the trailer. It stays put and if you want to close it you just reach out from inside the trailer instead of going down the steps and releasing the latch on the side of the trailer.

Our initial reaction was to dislike the 90 degree door. After about 30 days we learned: - Don't have to go completely outside to open or close a latched door (easy to reach).
- If backed into a site we don't have people walking by looking in the camper.
- The door helps prevent mis-steps and we feel more secure with the door when entering or leaving.
- We have yet to have rodents or bugs enter, but it's possible.
Like many items in life you either love or loathe a product. We're all different.
Enjoy,
Perry

Back in 2017-2018 ETI was using the friction hinges, in late 2018 they switched to the gas strut....not sure why, whether there was an issue with the friction hinges or the gas strut was just a new thing.

Gas struts on doors are not new, but they're also not common in travel trailers. My motorhome has one, probably mostly because the door needs to stop at about 90 degrees to avoid interference with the slide-out just ahead of it. It works well, but wears out so occasional replacement is required; the strut is a generic part available at RV parts stores.
