5.0TA sewer hose storage tubes

Has anyone added a second sewer hose storage tube? I know the factory will add a second. If so, where? I ordered an additional tube and it looks like the space adjacent to the current one is too tight to accommodate it.

It could be model specific, your salesperson would have the answer....

Sorry I wasn’t more specific. I have a 2019 5.0 and would like to add a second sewer hose storage tube as an add on preferably near the existing one. I am looking for photos/advise from anyone who has added one themselves aftermarket to their 5.0.

We had two sewer hose storage tubes installed by ETI on our 2019 5.0. Not a great photo but the best I've got, blew it up from a larger pic - trailer is not at home and not easily accessible to me today to measure, but they both seem to fit in back just fine.

We also had two installed by Escape in our 2021 5.0 I don’t have access to the trailer to take a picture, it’s at storage facility but they are side by side in the rear.

Here's another pic that shows the two tubes a little more clearly.

Looks like plenty of room on to add another behind the original tube on my 2021 5.0. With a bit of creative strapping perhaps no drilling - using the existing hole of the front-tube to capture two straps and adding a nut to the protruding bolt for the other side?

Yours may differ in detail but you should have the room in that area to work it out.

My undercarriage. The first two photos are drivers side. The last is passenger side. It looks like they split the difference between the stabilizers and the mounting bolt in the rear. I may have to move this one back to the mounting bolt and drill holes for the forward bolt and the new tube although I may be able to use one bolt for the back of one tube and the front of the other depending on the spacing.

Question? Any issues with drilling into the frame? Should I predrill a pilot hole or will a self tapping screw work ok? Should I paint or seal the screw in any way to prevent corrosion?

I’m a pretty handy guy just want to get advice from the experts. [emoji6]

Thanks! John

David, what are on the feet of your stabilizers? You may have posted the mod before I just don’t recall. John

Probably not in this particular case, but personally I still dislike doing it, as much as anything due to the awkward upside-down effort whether dealing with pilot holes or self-drillimg/tapping (aka 'Teks') screws.

One possible workaround is using the existing holes / bolt-ends to fasten a plate the frame that projects beyond on the inside or outside (a long projecting tab, if you will), with the exposed tab being drilled for your multiple-tube hangers.

You could do all of the drilling in the 'tab' on the workbench, then just bolt-up to the frame, much easier than working under the trailer, IMO.

Just for your consideration, Have Fun!

Ah…great idea. Something along the lines of a “T” plate. I like this. I will post what I eventually come up with.

One minor detail - when bolting anything (plastic or metal, other than an electrical ground strap) to the exposed frame I always 'bed' the entirety of the surfaces in contact with RTV silicon to prevent rust-promoting moisture from collecting in that interface.

Again, just for your consideration, keep Having Fun!

Thanks for the tip. All comments are welcome. The tube arrives later today via USPS. This will be my project this weekend. I will dry fit it first. With a little luck the clearances will be such that I don’t have to move the existing tube. We’ll see…

I cut a couple of blocks from 2x6's, painted black, and screwed them onto the sand pads. Saves me always having to put blocks under the stabilizers, they barely reach the ground - especially with the high lift.

I installed the additional tube today in front of the current one. I was fortunate in that the preexisting screws on the stabilizer and the bracket of the installed tube aligned on the drivers side. The passenger's side was off enough that I had to drill a separate hole. Only one new hole so I’m happy!

Pole holder

Wondering if an extra one might actually be a good fishing pole holder!

The ambassador who showed us his trailer when we were first looking had a second sewer tube holder for just that purpose!

I would call that abuse.
My rods are broken down and go into individual slots in rod socks and then into individual rod tubes.
