A few simple mods

I’ve been fighting cabin fever by doing some simple mods on our Escape 21. Thought I’d share some pics of what I’ve been up to. Nothing original, just my take on things.

Nice work. Two questions, I have 3 shelves in my bath cabinet? Why the raised floor of 7.5" amount? why not just over the plumbing lines?

Mods in that area are next on my list.

I'm still going back and forth whether to build a drawer like yours or go the 4 milk crate route.

Good idea putting the shelf in the other area. Shoes make for an inefficient use of the space so the shelf in effect doubles the "floor space".

Thumbs up

OK, I did not see that note that the shoes are underneath, explains the 7.5 height now and the shelf over the shoes....

Will you put the crates on a track? What kind?

Moenkopi, great mods! Good use of that space. Do you know how much weight they add?

So half the space under the 21 bed is not accessible?

My design process goes like this. First I decide if I want to fabricate a drawer or use crates. Then I decide on the type of track etc. that will be used. No sense spinning my wheels on the second part until the first parts decided.

I'm not sure why you think that. With the long drawer in place the area on the PS is accessed from the door by the bathroom and the area on the drivers side is accessed from the exterior or interior hatch.

Jim they must have changed cabinets, maybe to accommodate taller spray cans etc.
Saw that your other question was answered below. Yeah, I just wanted to be able to cram more stuff into that space and having a better chance of keeping it organized.

The rest is accessible from the stock outside hatch.

Another possibility for the shelf guards in the medicine cabinet - Lowes sells white PVC 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" corner guards. 144" for $11.28 so share!

Yes I’ll bet that would be even better. The extra 1/4” wouldn’t hurt either.

OK. I didn’t realize it would all be built that way. I thought perhaps you had the whole design in mind already, using a part of a pre-built system . Such as using the elfa shelf tracks or something similar.
Good luck!

A key part of my answer was "My design process" Lot's of folks do sort through and plan every item for a project ahead of time. But especially if you haven't nailed it down to one design then it's doing a lot of extra work for nothing.

I just decide what I want the finished item to be and get going on it. I know that there'll be some things to sort out along the way but I've got enough confidence that I can find a solution and make it work.

The follow-up form for the disability projects that I build asks "Do plans for this project exist?" The answer is always no. My process doesn't work for everyone but, on the other hand, I've seen folks bogged down, going round and round on details and never take the most critical action to getting the job done; take the first step.

We use this in the medicine cabinet (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and then two single-bar retainers (10" - 17"), also by Camco.

Ron exactly how I work . I asked Linda if that was true and she verified it was . She said when I get a idea I just get going and it comes together . I may have to change or change directions along the way but I just start. Pat

I have a friend, a great long time friend but when I go to help him on a boat project etc. he goes round and round on small details. Drives me absolutely nuts. I've ended up countless times saying, "I could have finished the project in the time we've spent going round and round on details might not ever be needed."

I guess if I had a personal motto it would be "A journey of a thousand miles......"
