Air Conditioner on a 15?

Do anyone have an air conditioner on their Escape 15? If so, was it an add-on?

AC was an option on the 15, just as it is on current models. They also had an "AC ready" option which I believe consisted of some roof reinforcement and prewiring. Not sure how you'd determine whether or not yours has that, but Escape should know. The roof mounted AC is heavy, so the roof needs to have the reinforcement either when it's built, or you have the much more difficult task of retrofitting it after the fact.

If it were me, I'd strongly consider a window mounted AC unit you can simply put in place using the emergency exit window once you set up camp. They're cheap, pretty easy to haul, they cool well (especially for the small interior of a 15) and they are far quieter than the roaring roof mounted Dometic Penguin II that we have. I would think a 5K to 6K BTU unit would work fine.

I am pretty certain that yours is an earlier model than the ones with reinforcement for A/C. I expect that they could put reinforcement as they have done on others but you would have to ask. And, yes, ours is loud and you might want to look at a smaller window unit.

I have a 15 that is AC ready. The roof reinforcement is plainly visible on the exterior, and the hole for the unit is installed as a vent. Installing the AC unit would be straight forward if the trailer is AC ready.

If the trailer is not reinforced, wired, and the hole is not already in place, I personally would not add AC to the roof. Even with an AC ready trailer I would look first at a window unit.

My 17B is 2008 and was not AC ready ( I declined the option ). Some time after I got mine, they made AC ready standard.
I would contact ETI to determine if yours is AC ready.
