Allure Vinyl Flooring - Not in a Trailer?
I've seen several threads on various forums talking about installing Allure Vinyl Flooring (TrafficMaster).
I was reading the online installation guide and came across this:
"You cannot install allure in solariums/sunrooms, over carpets, or any exterior application including seasonal porches, camping trailers and boats."
Lots of folks have used it in a trailer, so what gives?

"Know that allure is for interior installations and only in temperature controlled environments."
I'd guess the adhesive strips either give way from the temp swings or the expansion and contraction of the pieces.
I used it in my last trailer after replacing the plywood floor on the recommendation of the HD salesman. Made it through one winter and I sold it before summer.

I know several members have changed their flooring, Jim B. did a cork install and I did a floating wood floor install http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...a-1657-15.html

I installed it in a house I reworked last summer. I think the issue called out was direct sunlight. My guess is that it would be fine if shades were drawn during storage. It is easy to work with and inexpensive.

We just put it in our bathrooms mod at home. You do not have to be concerned about the under lament as much, it can go over the existing floor. It has to be in a controlled temperature environment. But maybe in a small camper like the ones we use where the area is very small it would not be an issue. It is not very expensive, no glue is used, easy to take up and replace. Carl

I will likely be using it in the Trillium 1300 I am rebuilding for my daughter, as it is easy to install, wears good, and I suspect that it will last a long time. If not, it was not that expensive. Still contemplating doing cork for her though.
You have to take these manufacturers warnings with a grain of salt. They are just trying to cover their butts in case of failure.

Thanks Jim. Just as I thought. I'll take the word of a contractor who's installed it over the manufacturer's caveats. We plan on "updating" the sheet vinyl floor sometime this summer or fall. It should just install right over the vinyl, no?

I would think if the vinyl is clean, and well adhered, it should be fine. You could drop the weight by 20 lbs taking the vinyl out. Mine came out quite easy.
