Back Splash

I am now wondering if the laminate can be a little higher behind the stovetop. I am getting the window over the sink. I think the curve may be a problem if it goes all the way to the bottom of the cabinet, but if it could go about 14-16" above and to the side (shower wall) that would be nice.

Re: Back Splash

The stainless steel backsplash certainly is a durable and problem free remedy, but it looks a bit harsh...maybe the flash lighting form the camera. A "Formica" backsplash colored to preference would work well also. If you are working with the 3/32" thick material, a bend in the sheet is usually not a problem, even for a moderately tight radius. I believe it can also be heat formed.

Re: Back Splash

Today at Home Depot I saw some plastic backsplash material that looks like metal. Someone on the fgrv site did this: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/in...howtopic=33660
I figured that I might give it a try for the area behind the cooktop only. I'd frame a square or rectangle and have it rest on the existing backsplash with the top slid behind the hood. That way it wouldn't harm the vinyl and could be removed easily. That is unless I can convince Reace to give it a go.

Yes, it's the flash. In person, it's absolutely beautiful!

Re: Back Splash

Hi: All...Yes our S/S backsplash is certainly durable... but not without effort. I just had to polish it as it had dulled& tarnished. I found that "Nevr-Dull" wading cloth is the best polisher for it(avail at most hardware stores). I also found this to be great on aluminium as well.

Stainless steel home appliances, especially a refrigerator door because of fingerprints can be an absolute B-I-T-C... bear to keep up. This product comes highly recommended for stainless steel care: http://www.sheilashine.com/

Re: Back Splash

Hi: 12ladyblue...Thanks for the tip& link. I had the Nevr-Dull on hand and had used it on the belly band & window frames of our Boler. I couldn't believe how much black came off the S/S backsplash!!! We will be passing thru N.Y. on our way east this summer so I will try a few stores to get some Sheila Shine.

Re: Back Splash

We checked with Tammy after seeing this. For our new 17B, the stainless steel back splash would cost $350 extra. Too much for us.
