Bathroom Changes

I have made some changes to our bathroom-thought you may be interested.

1) I got tired of having wet TP from showering. Although I had improvised a cover that dropped down from the sink I always seemed to forget to put it down. I bought this from West Marine and although a little pricey it looks like it will do the job. I attached it with 2" Velcro.

2) I switched out the "hand" flush toilet with a "foot" flush model. The foot flush makes it much easier to clean and rinse by just stepping on the pedal instead of holding the handle open with one hand. Since we don't have a bathroom window or black tank flush I need to pour water from a bucket to make sure the black tank gets completely clean. Note: I tried to install a porcelain Thetford but it was a little too big to fit.

3) The bathroom door always seemed to be in the way especially when open. Since we had material left over from our build I had a local seamstress sew a new fabric "door". It works great and can be easily moved out of the way to clean.

4) Dri deck flooring-just keeps your feet above the shower floor.

Hi Steve,

I miss the pedal flush Thetford we had in the Casita for the same reasons you listed. I wish I would have ask about a pedal flush on our build list.
What do you do with the original equipment?

After I removed and cleaned the old toilet I was able to sell it on CL for about $75. The buyer had an older 5er and he was redoing his bathroom.

Did you find your toilet West Marine as well? If so, do you have the model number?

Our "new" toilet came from a brand new Casita that had the plastic toilet switched out for a porcelain one. If you are looking to buy one I would suggest PPL Motor Homes in Houston (not sure where you are located) as they have some of the best prices any where. This should be the one you want:

THETFORD, AQUA MAGIC V, LO PROFILE, FOOT FLUSH, WHITE.

PPL is selling this for about $125.00

Hi Steve - Very familiar with PPL having purchased a few things from them previously (we're in California). Our 19' is on order (January) so we've been pouring through the forums, making our list and checking it twice ... prior to turning in our option list the first of October. Your comments about the foot flush made perfect sense as we have that now and couldn't imagine how the hand flush would work. Thanks much for the input on the model number!

Steve and Cynthia:

I like the Dri-Dek and am considering it for our 15B. However, when I go to their web site, they ask for a minimum order of 12 tiles. I only need four. Did they vary from the minimum or do you now own eight more?

I ran into that 12 tile minimum also.
BUT I just ordered some from www.revivalanimal.com . Kennels use these for flooring....
They were $4.99 per tile and for 6 tiles the shipping was $7.99.

You can also find them on Ebay at:

I have wimp feet and find Dri-Dek hurts. YMMV. It's often used in shower rooms in gyms, etc.
